modern SARS

After watching the film, I feel that there are several deficiencies in the film:
1. The public riots are not real enough, and they fail to express the shocking feeling of ancient famine, violence, and misery.
2. When the two sides fought, the scene was too small, and there was no planning and organization. It was not like the well-equipped and powerful army of ancient Rome, but more like the blind fight of the modern underworld, which may be the reason for the limitation of filming funds.
3. At the end, the scene where Matthews was moved and persuaded by his mother was not shocking enough. It may be that the lines were incomplete or the translation was incomplete and failed to express the essence of Shakespeare, and the protagonist's performance at that time seemed more like the anger in his heart could not be extinguished. But he was suddenly moved to agree to peace, and the ending of the protagonist being killed was not tragic enough but depressing.
The whole story is dressed in a modern coat and speaks an ancient language. Many things are very awkward to match. It makes people laugh and cry. If you have nothing to do, you can watch it as an entertainment film, and you can also feel some of Shakespeare's beautiful lines.

I specially read the original work, and I am fully psychologically prepared, but it is still very awkward with the modern background and the original lines. The audience laughs frequently...too much pursuit of the tension of the stage drama, a bit self-defeating, after all, not every audience They are all Shakespeare fans...but as a director’s debut, the mirroring and interpretation are still amazing

Coriolanus quotes

  • Caius Martius Coriolanus: O, a kiss Long as my exile, sweet as my revenge!

  • Menenius: This Martius is grown from man to dragon. He has wings. He's more than a creeping thing.

Menenius: There is no more mercy in him than there is milk in a male tiger.
