Charming French flair and Spanish flair

If you were to ask why watching movies brought me so much joy, The Woman on the Sixth Floor would give me a good answer. It and some other good movies took me into other parts of the world, other people's worlds, to experience their joys, sorrows, sorrows, and comprehension of the good, the evil, the beauty and the ugliness in the world.

The film is immersed in the elegant and funny French rhythm and atmosphere, coupled with the unrestrained Spanish style. Although the plot cannot be said to be cliché, it is absolutely pleasing to the eye. "Women on the sixth floor" refers to the many Spanish women who came to Paris in the 1960s under the Franco dictatorship to work as maids, all of whom lived on the top floor of a typical Parisian apartment - the sixth floor. There are simple and unrestrained Spanish aunts, and there are quasi-communists wearing scarves and smoking cigarettes. They shout loudly at the windows of their masters, work neatly in cheerful music, sing and dance with big flowers, and they are the only ones. The requirement is to go to church every week for Mass. One of the big-eyed and emotional aunts dreams of a bathtub with a gold tap, how straight forward. This is the charm of real working women, which undoubtedly adds a bright color to the flashy and hypocritical Paris. And this strong Spanish style is controlled by a bit of cold humor and interesting French flavor, which makes the audience smile from beginning to end without losing control.

But the film is not reduced to a musical, it clearly shows the class gap between the maid and the master, but it does not deliberately highlight the class contradiction, everything is natural. Each character is also three-dimensional and vivid. Mr. Rubei is an old-fashioned stockbroker. The quality of the day depends on whether the eggs at breakfast are just right. Madame Roubet was a provincial woman who yearned for fame and fortune, and she lived in the boring circle of ladies all day long, but she was not the kind of mean lady. The stereotyped Mr. Ru Bei started by helping the maids unclog the toilet, and gradually entered the world of the maids. He discovered the different colors of life, and even realized the joy of freedom after being kicked out of the house by his wife.

The young and healthy Maria was photographed by Madame Rube and entered into their lives. When Maria appeared on the scene, she left a deep impression on me with her light and sluggish back. Until the scene where she was carrying a laundry tub at the end of the film, her healthy vitality never disappeared. As a maid, she is neither humble nor arrogant, even more confident and assertive than Mrs. Rubet, and she doesn't bow to the two young masters of the Rubet family, which is quite likeable. The love that sprouted in this beautiful atmosphere is naturally infectious, and it is not as empty as most East Asian romance films. Instead, this love that crosses classes becomes more and more moving under the constant beating of reality. The ending in the bright Spanish sunshine three years later, I still have tears in my eyes after watching it for the second time.

What I like the most is the interesting life picture that unfolds in this film. It's such a good movie to make people smile when they watch it.
