when love turns to despair

Benjamin, experienced the loss of his beloved wife six months ago. Accompanying him to bear this pain is his adolescent son, his strong and lovely daughter. Seeing that he never dared to enter the tavern where he met his wife for the first time, and was unable to look at the photos of his wife's past, he slowly relieved himself and chose to let the past pass and start a new life optimistically. I was moved by this process. A highlight of the movie is the obedient and sensible daughter. After her mother left, she did not get lost in the pain, but enlightened her father like a little master. It seems to bring the power of example. She was like a good hope, happy, transparent, and full of love at a time when Dad and brother were desperately trying to hide their helplessness.

The clip of Benjamin looking at the photo twice in it exactly hit my teardrop. The first time he saw it, he only saw the first photo of his wife, and he couldn't click on it. He really couldn't bear the sweetness of those memories. The person you once loved is no longer there. He can no longer see her sleeping face next to you, play with her children with her, look at her like a beautiful oil painting. The most unbearable thing is that happiness used to be so real in our lives, and now, you really find that you no longer have this happiness.

He was miserable because wherever he went, his life was filled with the shadow and smell of his wife. He was so desperate that he couldn't help himself. Just like that old tiger, it is suffering from injuries and suffering every day. Euthanasia is a relief for it, not suffering in a hopeless state. If the existence of a feeling fills people with the helplessness and despair of life, let it pass. Memories are alive and eternal. You can always find your happiness back from your memories. And people still have to go on with life, so let go, for the people around you who still love you and need you.

We Bought a Zoo quotes

  • Benjamin Mee: What happened with you and Lily?

Dylan Mee: I don't know. I guess I didn't listen to something she told me or something? I mean, I liked her. It's like you embarrass yourself if you say something, and you embarrass yourself if you don't.

[Benjamin chuckles. Dylan smiles as well]

Benjamin Mee: I like it when you talk. You know, sometimes all you need is 20 seconds of insane courage. Just, literally, 20 seconds of just embarrassing bravery. And I promise you, something great will come of it.

[Dylan looks thoughtful, but doesn't say anything for a while]

Dylan Mee: I never know what to say to you.

Benjamin Mee: I'm the same way. Why don't we just tell each other what we wish the other guy would say?

Dylan Mee: "I'm sorry I brought you out to the sticks."

Benjamin Mee: "You're a great dad."

    [both Dylan and Benjamin laugh]

  • [Dylan sees letters that spells "If you love me, let me know" on the store window, and decides to run towards Lily's cabin]

Dylan Mee: 20 seconds of courage. 20 seconds of courage. Okay. Okay.

[knocks on Lily's window. She squeals a disturbed noise, turns around and sees him. She walks to the window and opens it]

    Lily Miska: Hi.

Dylan Mee: Hi. Look, am I nuts to say that I missed you like crazy a lot? A lot!

    [Lily shakes her head]

Dylan Mee: I was... I wasn't named after Bob Dylan. I was named after a dog named Dylan.

Lily Miska: [laughs] I don't really care. Who cares. Sorry about the rain.

Dylan Mee: No, I love it. I love your hair, I love your sign, Lily, I love you.

[Lily stops laughing the moment he says the word "you". They look at each other for a while, then smile before they move in for a hug through the window opening]
