The youngest son of the Sasaki family, Kenji (played by Ino Raka) secretly practices the piano. Dad Ryuhei (played by Kagawa Teruyuki) is an ordinary office worker. Mother Megumi (played by Koizumi Yoko) is a housewife. Brother Gui (played by Xiao Liuyou) is a college student who is busy working part-time. This is a very ordinary Japanese family at first glance, but in fact everyone has secrets that they don't want to be known by others. film takes a family of four in Tokyo as a microcosm, shows its internal disturbance in detail, outlines the struggles of each member, and thus captures Tokyo. Even the living conditions of countless people in Japan under turbulent situations such as the transformation of the world economic pattern, the financial crisis, and the war in the Middle East.
The film was selected as one of the top ten best Japanese films in the 2008 "Movie Xunbao". Won the Jury Prize in the "Un Certain Regard" section at the Cannes Film Festival. He won the Best Screenplay and Best Film at the 3rd Asian Film Awards (AFA).
