Relatively good version, greatly beautified Heathcliff

This version still reflects some of the advantages of the original, and overall it is considered to be the better version of the film and television version. The length of the film and television version is limited, and the story of cutting off the second generation is understandable.

The biggest difference from the original is the character of Heathcliff.

In the original book, Heathcliff is the villain who perfectly blends soulful and wild tyranny, which is extremely impressive. His greatest evil was the abuse of innocent Isabella and the torture of the next three, including his own son. But this version cut off all the stories of the second generation. After Isabella married him, I didn't see how he abused her, but she didn't love her very much, and her life was not very good. Even at the end of the story, the two of them were still together. It was the husband and wife, not as in the original book, she escaped early and died.

Therefore, it is relatively obvious that this version of Heathcliff is a normal man who is affectionate and has some revenge at the same time.

Catherine is average. It is said that she has a very bad relationship with Lawrence Oliver, but it is more suitable than the 92 version of Binoche.

I don't think it was the version that inspired Kate Bush to write the song of the same name. (Just checked KB and watched the 1967 BBC mini series)

In terms of a single love story, the three independent love-hate-entanglement books of Gone with the Wind, Wuthering Heights, and Thorn Bird are my favorites~ But this movie has more deletions, and Heathcliff's crazy revenge after his death is not mentioned at all. The bitter fruit of a generation has no sequel. After reviewing it, I found that the two leading actors also lacked some of the free and wild side of the original book. Love the Brontë sisters, but also Jane Austen~ I don't think it's contradictory, I still watch Little Women ==

Wuthering Heights quotes

  • Cathy: No matter what I ever do or say, Heathcliff, this is me - now - standing on this hill with you. This is me, forever.

  • Dr. Kenneth: Ask your husband to call another doctor in future. Whoever dwells in this house is beyond my healing arts.
