It's hard to imagine such a delicate and profound way of acting 90 years ago, especially in the atmosphere of Hollywood movies' ostentatious hedonism. Surrounded by the delicate makeup of the powder stack, Joan of Arc's real and sad face should be more imprinted in people's hearts.
The heroine has a big close-up of the whole process. As the film critic said, we can clearly see her every wrinkle and every pore. We can feel her desperation and helplessness with all our attention, through her unceasing tears and pursed lips.
Limited to the age and technology, it seems that the film is rough and the plot is simple, but it tells a story more powerfully.
After all, it's a silent film, so I just finished watching it on the barrage. It's truly a man who holds up a movie.
