I don't know why, compared to "Soul Broken Blue Bridge", I think the original name "Broken Bridge Can Dream" is more suitable for this movie.

The four characters "Soulbroken Blue Bridge" originally refer to an infatuated man who died under the bridge by holding a pillar when the water rose before waiting for the woman. That is, "one party misses the contract, the other party sacrifices love".

But this is not the case in this movie. Did Roy and Mara die for love at the end? Mara. Did someone miss an appointment? no. Maybe, some people will say: Mara felt sorry for Roy, and mistakenly thought that Roy was a prostitute when he died, which was a missed appointment. But even so, it is still slightly different from the legend of "Soul Broken Blue Bridge". And "broken bridge", "broken", "remnant" and "dream" in "Dream of the Broken Bridge" cater to the theme of this film. Although the name may not be as poetic as "Broken Soul Blue Bridge", (I think) it is more suitable...

To be honest, I don't really believe in the saying in the Book of Songs, "It's okay to say that a scholar is too late." But I can't refute the sentence, "It's too late for a woman to say it!"

From the current perspective, the encounter between Roy and Mara is actually a very clichéd love at first sight. A soldier and a dancer, two people who have nothing to do with each other, met and even fell in love because they avoided air defense. The next day, they decided to live forever, but they were separated because of their status. But the exciting part of the movie starts from here. Mara's actions because of her lover's death, to the complicated psychological changes when they meet again later, the behavior that she wants to tell the truth but has been difficult to open, until she finally sacrifices her love for love... ...all of them reflect the fragility of her heart and the remorse for Roy. Maybe this is really a true portrayal of a woman who loves a man to the extreme but is polluted.

I loved you, I never shall. That's the truth, I never shall.

I love you, never loved anyone, never will, it's true, never will.

An actor can perform the two tragic roles of "Hao Scarlett" and "Mara" in the three major love tragedies at the same time so vividly, maybe there is really only "God's artwork" Vivien Leigh!

A pair of bi people. The colorful version of Vivien is as beautiful as a fairy.

Waterloo Bridge quotes

  • Lady Margaret Cronin: Forgive me, my dear, but, are you quite well?

Myra Lester: Yes-yes, of course. I had a drink, that's all, it made me feel funny, queer! What's it like in Scotland? I've never been there. It always sounds so quaint, you know, the heather and the peat. Ha-ha. Peat comes from Ireland, doesn't it. I've never been there, either.

  • Myra Lester: How have we been living?

Kitty: What difference does it make, as long as we live.

Myra Lester: Where's the money coming from? Where are you getting it?

Kitty: Where do you think I've been getting it? I was trying to keep it from you, but - well, you know now.

Myra Lester: You did it for me.

Kitty: No I didn't! I'd a done it anyhow. C'est La Guerre. No jobs. No boys who want to marry you. Only men who want to kill a few hours, 'cause they know it may be their last.
