Back then, Bertolucci was very skillful in mirroring, and the lens was as smooth as a serpentine snake, sometimes with his head up and looking down, and sometimes patrolling around. It was noted that there were a lot of deep-field shots that made the sense of space stronger. However, some scene transitions always leave me unconscious, and the protagonist’s inner digging is somewhat of a stream of consciousness, and it is difficult to concentrate when watching. Since Bertolucci always combines sex and politics, politics always seems a bit ambiguous. recommend-

Childhood trauma throughout the protagonist's life seems to be the norm in Bertolucci's films. Marcelo's discussion with leftist professors on Plato's cave theory, as well as the shadow that disappeared without a trace after opening the window, gave the audience a hint to grasp the subtle psychological state of the characters in the blurred light and shadow. Maybe you and I are just accomplices who don't know it, and even Mussolini's resignation has not been able to wake up, holding a banner high and laughing together again. Bold and full of metaphors, it's worth seeing again and again.

Manganiello: [disgusted by Marcello's inability to act and leaving their car] How disgusting! I've always said so. Make me work in the shit - sure, but not with a coward! It's up to me! Cowards, homosexuals, Jews - they're all the same thing! If it were up to me, I'd stand them all against a wall!
[he blows on his fingers in the stinging cold]
Manganiello: Better yet - eliminate them when they're born!

Marcello: Ten years ago, my father was in Munich. Often, after the theater, he told me that he'd go with friends to a Bierstube. There was a nutty man they thought a fool. He spoke about politics. He was quite an attraction. They'd buy him beer and encourage him. He'd stand up on the table making furious speeches. It was Hitler.
