real and not dull

It's a very good documentary, and the narrative technique is also very special. The interludes of paragraphs make the rhythm of the whole documentary well controlled. The music is also very good, and the French romanticism is vividly set off. The historical footage and the newly filmed footage are also appropriately
combined with historical footage, character interviews, and scene reproduction. At the same time, the interludes and flashbacks are carried out through the chapter-style names of the characters, making the whole film real and not dull. The soundtrack is also a highlight, fully expressing the romance and unrestrainedness of the French. In comparison, Jon Joseph's "Walking in the Clouds" last year can only be regarded as a special effects film. The plot, especially some details, basically copied the content of the documentary, but the rhythm was accelerated, which enhanced the dramatic conflict.

  • Alan Welner: The fact that I could not speak French, and didn't know what the sound was or what had happened with the wire... was probably just as well.
