Hitchcock's view of women

The women in Hitchcock's films are beautiful, graceful and sexy, and at the same time weak and endearing. Yes, most of them are beautiful underdog figures. As long as she believes that a man still loves her, no matter how excessive and outrageous things he does, she will endure it and have nothing to do. This feature is true in the boudoir suspicion, and it is the same in Vertigo. This may have something to do with Hitchcock's attitude towards women and the lack of obvious awareness of women's independence in that era.

I feel that Hitchcock's analysis of women's psychology has reached a certain depth, but he is only expressing, not analyzing, nor proposing solutions. I think it is a more advanced film that can provide a kind of inspiration for thought. Hitchcock may not have gotten there yet. But he is definitely a master when it comes to expressive psychology.

In addition, see some analysis of Hitchcock's female plot from the Internet.

  • Johnnie: What do you think of me by contrast to your horse?

Lina: If I ever got the bit between your teeth, I'd have no trouble in handling you at all.
