THE PARTY

Herta 2022-03-26 09:01:11

A group of people who lack love, a group of nervous people, gathered together to celebrate the promotion of their girlfriends, hide endless privacy under the amiable appearance, so they can't be open and honest with each other. Tom is a cowardly, restless, drug-drinking unscrupulous financier, Ginny and Martha are gay lovers who are bickering over fertility issues, and April is fed up with her boyfriend Gottfeld's mouthful of Chicken Soup for the Soul and the Philosophy of Settling in. Janet has been running around for her career and power all the year round while ignoring her husband Bill's emotional needs. The haggard-faced and dying Bill's remarks are like a giant monster lurking on the bottom of the sea, breaking the surface's calm and serenity... The unseen monster Marianne is the fuse of all contradictions.

[Taipei Golden Horse Film Festival Screening] Instead of increasing the dramatic tension in a progressive way, it deliberately creates gimmicks from the initial character setting, and almost every character is abnormal. The play is far worse than Polanski's The Killing. Playing music to create laughter is also more awkward. On the contrary, the "Führer" Bruno Ganz made frequent sentences, accusing him of being a Nazi fascist who is famous for playing Hitler. It's really an excellent stalk! clean finish

In recent years, there have been literally countless movies about the collapse of the middle class, all of which are multi-character relational dramas that focus on a very small scene. When it comes to the middle class, no one can beat Buñuel, but this is one of the best movies of its kind. The ending is very abrupt but I like it, there is a sense of irony that the middle class will eat itself.

The Party quotes

  • Janet: We will be sharing an office now, she is on my team.

April: Lucky you, gazing on all that genetic good fortune.

  • April: Look, if Dennis Thatcher and Prince Philip could trail behind their female leaders without complaint, then so can Bill.
