the zookeeper's wife

➡️After dinner on Saturday night, I watched last year's movie #The Zookeeper's Wife# , which was set during World War II. I haven't read the original book. This story was adapted from a real event during World War II.

➡️ When I saw the cover of the movie poster, I should have thought that animals should be the protagonists of this film, but I didn’t expect that most of the animals died at the beginning, which was a bit disappointing.

➡️The background takes place in Warsaw, Poland. The hostess is the wife of the director of the Warsaw Zoo, who runs the zoo with her husband. However, after the German army stormed Poland in September 1939 and Poland fell, the couple sheltered Jews in order to protect , turned the zoo into a pig farm, and only after nightfall could the Jews make a sound and come out of the room.

➡️I don't know if there is a love line between the heroine and the German officer in the original book. If it is imposed by the movie, then I think it is a bit of a failure.

The Zookeeper's Wife quotes

  • Antonina Zabinski: You can never tell who your enemies are, or who to trust. Maybe that's why I love animals so much. You look in their eyes, and you know exactly what's in their hearts. They're not like people.

  • Jan Zabinski: I was raised with these people. Gentile, Jewish. It didn't matter to my family. It never mattered to me.
