He hates himself (this is not a movie review)

This isn't a movie review, it's an afterthought.

The story is a bit fanciful, though not complicated. The movie starts with a motorcyclist who is going to race in another place. He is in love with a woman named Daisy, but he can't find Daisy. He was in pain, he felt abandoned. But he couldn't stop for Daisy. Although he has tried to find other women to resolve this conflict many times during his travels, he has failed.

Finally, Daisy shows up, and a passionate scene takes place. Afterwards, the two started chatting, but we found out the truth: Daisy was drunk and raped at a party, but after the male protagonist saw it, he chose to leave silently. But on the way back, Daisy was suffocated by her own vomit.

At this time, we know that this man's despair does not come from a woman, but from himself. He was disappointed with his actions. That's why he couldn't solve this pain through other women.

So it's not that he can't let go of love, but that he hates himself completely.

The film was nominated for the Palme d'Or, but failed to win word of mouth at Cannes. Actually, I don't understand what is so important about that passion scene...
