If someone else played this action, it might be a bit contrived, but in the context of an old movie, it has a weird texture.
Coupled with the setting of Miles, it is "Night Demon", which has no soul and stiff movements.
However, the audience in 1979 may not be in the mood to experience this.
They were relieved to see Miles fall off the balcony after taking a few steps back.

Miles kills for no reason.
He has no heartbroken past, no mood swings, no motive for murder.
"I don't want the audience to have any empathy for him," said the original director, John Carpenter.
He is a pure murderer.

What it makes people fear is the unprovoked evil, the elusive killing intent, and the fear itself.
In the original, apart from the ending, the most likely cardiac arrest is the long shot at the beginning.
Not just a long shot, but a subjective shot.
I picked up a mask and put it on halfway through, so the lens only showed holes the size of my eyes.
In this gap, the audience witnessed a killing.
Holding a long lens is so real, but it is also a murderer's perspective.
When watching the film, not only witnessing bloodshed, but also being imprisoned in a demon's body and committing crimes involuntarily.
What's even more frightening is that the camera staggered downstairs again, and someone called the killer's name: Michael?
The camera finally showed mercy, turned into an omniscient perspective, and released the poor soul of the audience.
But in front of him is a six-year-old child:

How powerful a hunter should be to make such a monster fall into a trap.
The new version overturns the background of four decades that all the sequels have made up for Miles, and then also uses a long shot to remind people how terrifying this killing machine is.
Today, the subjective lens has been abused by horror films, and director David Gordon Green has instead used a more stable third-person point of view.
But the sense of terror and powerlessness remains undiminished.
Miles being out of the picture for two seconds is even more terrifying.
He passed by, letting go of the crying baby. This cry is also played by Laurie, dubbed by Jamie Lee Curtis.
The director said, I don't know why he let the baby go.
You can't even tell if it's his weird morals or just a random killing game.
Has he picked his prey again? You are in awe.
But the woman's husband appears and the camera pans back - he changes his mind again.
He is the god of death, who decides the life and death of his target at will.
When he approached the house, the camera didn't move any more, you only saw his shadow, flashing from the right side of the house.
The end is doomed--
You don't know how he got in the house, but the camera is so malicious.
It follows Miles uninterruptedly, and you are supposed to be omniscient, but in a place you don't know, everything has already happened.
That place could be behind the house that the long shot didn't follow, or it could be the human heart that Miles has no reason to speak of.

Laurie was able to capture such a devil because what the audience felt at the end of 1979, she has endured for 40 years.
Curtis talked about the possible scenarios after the original story happened:
I believe Laurie went to school on November 1st. I think she had a bandage on her arm and went to the ER for a few stitches. It was her parents who sent her back to school. Of course, two days ago, she was a student with a reputation for being smart, the kind that would give a graduation speech on behalf of the class. She will leave here and pursue her dream elsewhere. Two days later, she was a freak. Two days later, she walked into the hall, and everyone would say, "Oh my God, that's Laurie Strad, let me go, hi Laurie!"
But what made Curtis decide to take the script was a scene on pages two and three.
Laurie's granddaughter opened the closet door and packed up for school.
Forty years ago, my story ended in that wardrobe. Now, my granddaughter opens her closet and starts her day. I find it beautiful.
This last scene does not appear in the final film.
But I think the wardrobe scene in the movie is more beautiful.
I don't think corpses are beautiful. It's because, 40 years ago, it was Laurie who was in this closet.
If you don't believe me, look up and see who the sky is bypassing. The so-called reincarnation of destiny means that time changes, and the little white rabbit also picks up the gun and shoots the big bad wolf.
Curtis knows the role best. She knew how the little white rabbit carried the gun.
Director David wanted to clutter the room to show the trauma Laurie has suffered over the years.
Curtis said no, there will be no leaves of vegetables in her pool, and there will always be a gun beside her bed. She is always ready to meet the murderer.
Because they don't get in the middle of the road. Nothing will stop her.
So in the film, Laurie says, you know what, I pray every night that he can escape so I can kill him with my own hands.
Her house has 100 locks, 800 surveillance cameras, and 1,000 traps.
Just waiting for the prey to throw itself into the net.

Curtis arrived in Laurie's room an hour before filming. She wanted to be alone for a while and get to know Laurie again.
She saw a book, Let Us Prey, and let's hunt.
She immediately took a picture and sent it to the producer, saying: This is the promotional slogan of the film.
This is the most magical part of this movie.
It has been 40 years, and people are looking forward to this series [Moonlight Panic], that is, Miles should kill the Quartet.
He may move mechanically and clumsily, sticking down like a pile driver; he may make the murder scene dripping with blood, without the beauty of Hannibal.
But he's a hunter, and wherever he goes, people just scream and crumble. He has a dementor aura about him, and people are overwhelmed with fear whenever they get close.
Who knows, he was also the only missing prey at first and became the one who ended him (so to speak for now).

In [Chasing Neruda] , the police go after the poet.
The poet did not run too far, he wanted to know what kind of people the police were, and he also left him his own work.
The police read the poet's book, read the decadent world, and became more and more confused about who they were. He was shaken.
Those who sent him to chase after Neruda's money and power were getting farther and farther away from him; his prey was getting closer and closer to him.
He had firmly believed that he was the son of a policeman, but because of Neruda, he became more and more convinced that he was the son of a revolutionist.
In the end, it was Neruda who captured him.
Life is wonderful, hunters and prey are not absolute, they adapt to each other's habits, become the people who know each other best, and then change their hearts.

But in the new version, Nick Castle, one of the actors in the original version, was invited.
He also didn't appear in all the scenes. But there is one, designated by the director, and he must be on it.
At this moment, the prey and the hunter have spanned 40 years, staring at each other, and no one knows who is the one who will really be hunted.
This fateful moment may be the moment when the hunter and the prey begin to battle.
