Only by understanding Dylan can you understand

If you don't know Bob Dylan, you won't really understand this movie.
Those who don’t know Dylan can comment on the film from the perspective of the actors, plot, acting skills, and the setting of six characters; those who know Dylan can see the wonders of the film.
This movie uses too much symbolism, expressionism, and extreme exaggeration. The six Dylans are different aspects of him, they are the contradictory innermost of him. Interspersing the 6 Dylan narratives is actually showing Dylan's contradictory heart and spirit in reality on a timeline.
I said the timeline, yes, this movie seems to be fragmented, but it is actually a biography recorded in the order of Dylan's life (life not yet dead, haha). From the very beginning, the influence of black Americans in the south, to the end, the return of American traditional music, this is the journey Dylan has gone through. Whether it is traditional folk songs, blues, protest songs, drug-laden rock and roll, folk music that expresses itself, and Christian music (Dylan has released 3 religious music albums), Dylan has gone through the journey. So, in my opinion, this movie is very clear and very clear.
Don't criticize the setting of the plot and the setting of the characters, because almost all the plots in the movie have meaning or corresponding things in reality; many characters are also real. We can see Dylan’s plug-in at the Newport Music Festival in 65, we can see Pete wielding an axe in the background to cut the wire, we can see Dylan’s girlfriend Susan (painter) in 1963, we can see Ellen Ginsberg, You can see the scenes of the performances and interviews (almost all of them are supported by the version at the time, many of which are remakes), we can see the "Judas" shouted by the audience during the UK tour in 66, and we can see Dylan's marriage, divorce, and children. , You can see his status in the two albums "Henry Visley Harding" and "Nashville Sky", and you can see his status in the album "Bloodstain"...too much
more The important thing is that only by understanding Dylan can you see the many subtle details of the film.
This is simply a documentary, a documentary retelling the structure of the characters, the details are real and intriguing.
Since I came into contact with Dylan’s music 7 years ago, I have collected more than 20 albums and read too many biographies. I am deeply impressed by Dylan’s music and spirit. I can only say that only by understanding the old Dylan can I really know the movie. Subtle.

I'm Not There quotes

  • Hobo Joe: [Woody shows Hobo Joe and Hobo Moe his guitar case which says 'THIS MACHINE KILLS FASCISTS'] You wouldn't be stashing no weapons in there, son?

Woody Guthrie: No sir, not in any literalized way.

  • Jude: You know, saying 'cause of peace', it's like saying, 'hunk of butter', you know, I don't want you to listen to anybody who wants you to believe is dedicated to the hunk and not the butter.

Reporter: I'm not sure I follow.

Jude: You know, I didn't come out of some cereal box. There's no one out there who's gonna be converted by a song.
