Tribute to stop motion animation

When I was studying at the New York School of Design, I took STOP MOTION as an elective, and accidentally learned this primitive animation production. Today, when 3D animation is popular, no one seems to want to spend time and energy to make this kind of animation. My stop motion animation graduation project took half a year, but only 2 minutes.

When I saw the easter egg at the back of the film, I was suddenly moved inexplicably. The two little brothers of the big villain on the screen became sweepers after the war, inadvertently sweeping the floor while chatting, discussing whether there will be more time, other kinds of time and space, we will have to blink our eyes to spend them 1 Time of day? Pulling the camera back, we see a staff member posing the two characters frame by frame. At this time, there was sparse applause in the theater. It is estimated that only those who know how hard it is to make will truly appreciate its beauty... I

watched some foreign news about the production company Laika, and the staff did it for 1-2 minutes. The stop-motion animation of the company takes them one week, which means that a 97-minute animation will take them nearly two years, not including the preparation of props and the construction of the scene. The last cartoon, Coraline, produced by Laika, cost 60 million U.S. dollars, and the global box office statistics are 120 million. It would be an exaggeration to say that they are doing thankless things, but Laika insists on the laborious and time-consuming traditional and sophisticated production methods, which is indeed quite impressive.

Many people feel that stop-motion animations are all dark-themed animations, which are not suitable for children to watch. In fact, because of the limitations of stop-motion animation itself, it is easy to find a little change from frame to frame in a lens with too strong light; and I personally think that the main difference between stop-motion animation and computer 3D animation is that the shadow effect of stop-motion animation is very good. In the case of one point, the three-dimensional effect of the character is more prominent.

It's time to talk about the movie itself. The plot is very cute, and it can be seen that the setting of the scene is also carefully designed. I think the face of the young heroine Winnie is very cute, and the husband always complains that the young hero looks like Lin Youjia.....

It is the ending that feels different from the normal animation route, because the heroes and the boxes did not beat the red hat uncle (forgot the name), but the uncle hurt himself because of his vanity to the upper class-obviously eating Cheese is extremely Allergic physique still want to eat, and finally blew himself up. Is this the rhythm of what we call that if you don’t die, you won’t die?

In order to let this unusual art go down in the cinema, go see it, you will never be disappointed!

Only after watching the easter eggs did I know the energy that the staff put into the stop-motion animation characters

The Boxtrolls quotes

  • Winnie: [When Eggs states that he is a Boxtroll] Oh... really? Then let's see you fit into your box!

Eggs: Err... I can't right now.

    Winnie: [nods head] Ummhmm.

    Eggs: I'm long boned.

  • Herbert Trubshaw: [chained up, hanging upside-down, and swinging back and forth] Jelly. Jelly. When I'm good, I get jelly. I like jelly. JELLY!
