Plain as water

Watching this movie feels like watching a very ordinary TV work. It was originally a legendary story, but the story is as boring as boiled water. It hardly feels the point, and there are very few climax scenes. It was watching Matthew McConaughey acting alone there, but without a good story background, there is no superb acting ability by himself. . .
For such a historical theme, the film was a little wasteful, and it came to the end without pain. Perhaps, the film was placed many years ago, and it will bring special feelings to viewers who have experienced slavery, but the times are different. I want to talk about it. A historical story must be able to impress talents from different eras. . .

It's too long, and the themes are really mixed; of course, Matthew McConaughey's acting skills are as good as ever, but this kind of role is actually not suitable for him, and the selection of films needs to be cautious. Two and a half stars.

Very reluctant Samsung. A film that is extremely neat and trying to please (old school guys). From the beginning of the war scene, the director tried to create a serious and tragic atmosphere, but whether it was a war scene or a love element, it was handled. Unsatisfactory, including the plot of liberating black slaves later, lacks the most basic appeal. Obviously, not everyone can take a good picture of the subject of "Black Slaves", even if you have Matthew's card in your hand.

Free State of Jones quotes

  • Rachel: I don't want my boy to get lynched. Or beat. I want him to go to a school. I don't want him to drop his eyes every time a white man walk by. I don't want him to be a "boy" no more once he turn into a man.

  • Newton Knight: Lyin' like that? Don't it make you dizzy?

Moses: Oh, no. It don't bother me now.

Newton Knight: I guess you get used to anything.

    Moses: No, you can't.
