A few behind-the-scenes tidbits

Song of the Sea is a frame-by-frame hand-drawn animation completed with TVPAINT software.
The Kell Sutra was drawn on paper, but Flash was used in the dream scene.

One of the reasons for making Song of the Sea: A director Moore took his family to the beach to play and saw the dead seals on the beach. The locals told him this was because the fish stocks had shrunk in recent years, and the fishermen began to slaughter the seals because they were troubled by the reduction in production. In the past, this kind of thing would not happen, because everyone believed that the seal was changed by the drowning soul, or selkie.

The scene of Ben walking out of the cave. When he saw the memories of the past, his mother left and left his sister. The first sentence of 4-year-old Ben when he saw her was "I hate you." This sentence was later cut off.

The story of the crying giant Mac Lir: A Celtic goddess was very jealous when she saw Mac Lir and her family live extremely happy, so she turned his family into swans and exiled to the spirit world while the giant was away. Mac Lir couldn't find his family, thought they had been harmed by others, and started crying endlessly, but was turned into stone by Macha. The director thinks that there is no need to tell the story in such a detailed and trivial way, only to explain that Mac Lir is indulged in grief like Ben's father Conner.

A few easter eggs: The scene where three elves follow Saoirse. Among the people waiting at the bus stop is the director Tom Moore. When the two escaped into the pipe from the residence of the 3 elves, we could see various things buried in the soil around the pipe, including the most treasured "Eye of Crom Cruach" in the Kell. After Ben and Saoirse got on the bus, there was a special passenger in the bus—Aisling in Kell's Sutra.

It's very beautiful, but the movie theater is too hot. Fortunately, the song of the ocean is said, otherwise I will go crazy when I talk about the song of the desert.

Panghu said that women in the past had to keep giving birth when they got married. In a dangerous age like childbirth, I don’t know how many children have no mothers. When facing the children’s questioning, adults make up a nonsense that the mother is a seal and went back to the sea. Generations of widowers dragged their children with alcohol and gradually became stones. Such a sad story is gentle and beautiful. Those who like the style of The Secret of Kells must see this.
