Ideals are cruel

When I was young, I didn’t like to read Dickens’ novels. Those stories always took place in a cold, humid, and dirty environment; those people were dressed in shabby clothes and dimly colored, eating tasteless food and drinking cold water, and surviving like mice; Those lives are so heavy that they feel that it is better not to live if you live in this way; also, they force you to think about some serious and grand propositions, examine the depths of your soul, and that kind of thinking makes you painful every time. .

It seems that this is a characteristic of British art, because in "The Wind Blows the Rice Waves", I experienced similar feelings.

This is a film describing war, but in fact, it has nothing to do with war, at least it has nothing to do with the war descriptions we are familiar with. In it, class hatred and national hatred are not so clear, enough to support people to become a revenge machine; the definition of heroes is not so clear, so that people can easily make "right or wrong", "good and bad" to a person. "Judgment; the position is not so easy to come by, so that one can stand on the side without complaint. Following the inner growth of a war-weary person—Dai Min, we overcome the love and fear that we have in life, gained strength and courage through a painful journey, but only found that we were powerless, embarking on a path that was unwilling to choose but did not. A dead end.

Dai Min, like everyone of us, is kind and a little cowardly. Even though he was born in Ireland under British oppression and had to endure a humiliating life, he still did not have the heart to resist and only hoped to go to London to be a doctor. Change your own personal destiny. However, his compatriots died and were beaten innocently in front of him, which finally aroused his righteous indignation, and he joined the revolutionary army.

When I was arrested, I saw my own brother Teddy being tortured and his nails pulled out one by one. The film was shot without rendering and purely realistic, which made the audience feel the fear and anger of Dai Min in empathy. I experienced a torturous overcoming of human weakness. After that, Dai Min was ordered to execute the leaker-a kid who was frightened and told the truth. Between ideals and principles, Dai Min made a painful choice. Before shooting, Dai Min said to himself: " Hope our future Republic of Ireland deserves this". At the end of a battle, they returned to catch up with the British army and burned his lover’s house, beat and insulted his lover, but because they had no bullets, they had to hide from the sidelines-breaking through their physical instincts, religious beliefs, and The obligation of a lover has gone through a transformation process that is like tearing off a layer of skin to see the flesh. The ideal that grows in this way has to be pure and perfect.

It is understandable that when the Sinn Fein Party signed an agreement with the United Kingdom to obtain autonomy, but compromised to loyal to the King of the British Empire, the disappointment and dissatisfaction felt by Dai Min and his group. In particular, when compatriots voted to agree to the agreement under the threat of the United Kingdom, and when the children around them were starving to death because they could not build a fair society, compromise was even more difficult to accept. After such a painful course, what they struggled with was not such an ending, let alone, the ideals were close at hand.

In the film, a long debate is arranged at this time, and each party and everyone has the opportunity to express their views. The language of each of them is so persuasive that we, as the audience, cannot easily make judgments. Is Dai Min wrong? His request is reasonable, his anger is natural; and his opponent, his brother Teddy, is wrong? Peace is so difficult to obtain, and this compromise is responsible. History cannot assume, and no one knows if working harder at that time will have a more perfect ending, but the lives and stability of millions of people are also realistic. What if they fail to accept compromises?

Dilemma! For the same ideal and responsible for the same group of people, the two brothers turned against each other, and both embarked on a path of no return that must take the other's life-this was not their choice, but they had no choice. Neither of them wanted to have another war, but for this purpose they both had to shoot at each other.

Dai Min and Teddy are brothers, and the other members of the Revolutionary Army and the Maintenance Army are not different. They all lived and died in the same team, but now they are fighting each other. This is not what they chose. This is the fate of Ireland as a place once ruled and oppressed.

The movie of two hours and 7 minutes is too heavy and breathless. Although there are protagonists, the film never regards character creation as the main task, does not portray special characters, and the appearance of the male and female protagonists is not beautiful. The director deliberately asked the audience to ignore the characters and pay attention to the background of their existence. They face the same dilemma as others. Dim colors, gloomy atmosphere, shabby people, dilapidated houses... This is a film that does not make people aesthetically pleasing. In the unpleasantness, you are oppressed to examine your soul.

To be absolutely free, or to live in compromise, a few people become the former, and the majority become the latter.

From the perspective of Ireland’s anti-colonial struggle alone, it’s hard to be honest with overseas audiences, especially from the third world audiences in Asia, Africa and Latin America. Sneak release), the intensity of the struggle seems to be ugly to Chinese audiences who have suffered from the difficult education of the anti-Japanese. It is a bit pediatric... Fortunately, Ken Roach quickly turned his spearhead to the narrative line he is good at-inside the small room after tearing his rebellion. The radical debate between class contradictions and legal dignity is comparable to freedom and land ten years ago. "You can't act arbitrarily, otherwise, how is it different from the British to be driven away"? Of course, this debate seems to have their own offensive and defensive terms, but because of the post-event Zhuge, it is hard not to incline people to the democratic leftist position represented by Damian, and thus fall into the topic of premature ejaculation. The cliché trajectory, and the follow-up development proves that there are indeed no surprises. In contrast, the filming director transformed his other signature motif, folk ball sports, into a mixed technique that provokes the British army to search and create tragedies, which is eye-catching, although it comes from the fun of the movie rather than the story itself. The emotions lead. Samsung and a half
