There is nothing left, only nature

In survival documentaries or adventure genres of survival in unexpected distress, it is often mentioned that the four elements of survival in the wild are shelter, water, food, and fire, but "human nature" is rarely mentioned in real incident reports ( The attributes of civilization). The four elements are the physical elements of survival. As human beings as thought animals face the test of survival, "humanity" is the meaning of human beings to "live".

The movie "Arctic" attempts to present an escape adventure story through visuals, performances and details rather than text lines. Obviously, the director did it skillfully, naturally, and appropriately.

First of all, the movie does not explain the background, nor does it set the cause, and does not even give the protagonist a name. Aircraft wreckage, polar wasteland, ice-cutting and fishing, it is easy to judge that this is a story about plane crashes and survival in the polar regions. The broken airplane is a shelter. The fish caught do not need to be refrigerated and stored directly to solve the food source. The vast ice and snow are the source of water (it can be understood as direct drinking from the sun). Although in danger, Max Mickelson The man in trouble is doing everything for self-help, looking calm, precise, and orderly.

Finally, the daily fixed signal detection results were obtained. A helicopter (scientific research) responded to the signal, mistakenly thinking that the rescuer watched the helicopter crash in the snowstorm. The hope that had just ignited turned into despair, with tears in his eyes. The water is heading towards the crash point. In the snowstorm, hiding in the helicopter to protect the seriously injured woman from the snowstorm. Fortunately, the helicopter brought medicines, processed food, fire and transportation. The most important thing is the need to communicate and accompany the injured woman. The coming is about to be realized. A photo representing human civilization (social relations); after catching a big trout, the newly found lighter brought him long-lost cooked food and hot water. The standard elevation map is more accurate than the previous knife-engraved map from memory. clearer. The seriously injured woman became the motivation for the man to give up waiting and actively seek rescue. After preparing food and water, solving transportation problems, making plans, and determining routes, the man embarked on the road to survival with great hope.

Attempts to send the "sleigh stretcher" up the steep cliff several times were unsuccessful. The man was frustrated and discouraged. But soon, he chose a winding but slightly gentle road and embarked on the journey again. The wind and snow were blowing, hiding in the cave, the fuel ran out and the fire disappeared until the bear attacked, and he walked out of the snow cave tremblingly. Looking at the photos, thinking about everything the woman brought, he plucked up the courage to walk into the wind and snow again. The blizzard caused the temperature to drop sharply, and the field of vision was limited, so you could only stop and wait for the blizzard to pass. After drilling out of the snow again, the woman gradually lost consciousness due to the severe cold and wound infection. Thinking of the long road ahead, the man gradually lost motivation. He retreated guiltily and decided to give up. He saw a plant that survived the extreme cold. Falling into a dark hole covered by snow, after waking up, he tried to escape the danger and failed. The hole he looked at silently repented, and his humanity faded away. Finally freed from the "punishment", and after the escape, he took the woman to the vast snowfield again. Since then, the man has given up his personal safety, only to complete his inner salvation. Until he encountered a helicopter in the distance, the man still insisted on holding up the dying woman in spite of the bloody pain and shouting at the distance. Finally, amidst his weak cry for help, the roar of the rescue plane suddenly came, and the story came to an abrupt end.

I tried to retell this story with full sincerity, because it is so clean, with a few lines, gray and sharp tones, a minimal survival challenge story supported by a half-character, relying entirely on meticulous performance. The magnificent photography, the intensive conversion of hope and despair, support the ultimate experience of nearly 100 minutes. There is only the process. The problem will never stop in the process to solve the problem, always thinking of countermeasures, and always having a plan to eliminate the movie. Symbolic, life is not limited, thinking is more than just the meaning and motivation of survival, even if this thinking will be given a symbolic subjectively in the end, the process of returning to suffering and living by will is how to deal with the suffering, self-help and rescue All just let us have more onerous things to do.

Max Mickelson’s portrayal is so real. Anyone who has experienced the cold can feel the coldness of the protagonist through the screen. Probably because of most of the real shots, the exhaled water vapor, red cheeks, and oil secretion. Greasy hair caused by the increase, tearful eyes blown by the wind, mist caused by the temperature difference between inside and outside, and dirty clothes look very realistic.

That's enough, who, why, where, what was he like, and what happened afterwards? It doesn't matter, it's all in this story.
