Robber? Ranger!

I personally think that Chinese film titles should not be translated as robbers.

Highwayman really means road bandit and ringing horse. The plural form of The Highwaymen specifically refers to the male and female robbers Bonnie and Clyde. There seems to be nothing wrong with it. However, the upright attitudes of Frank and Maney on the poster and the absolute protagonist roles in the film made me suspicious of the Chinese translation.

So I clicked on the big poster of the poster and saw the small subscript "The legends who took down Bonnie & Clyde." Did you find the problem? I will make a Chinese poster for you to see.

By the way, both the Spanish (Emboscada final) and Italian (L'ultima lmboscata) poster titles are "The Last Ambush".

So if the title The Highwaymen is not referring to Bonnie and Clyde, I am afraid that it is not referring to the old Rangers Frank and Maney on the poster?

Therefore, the Hong Kong translation of "Hot Hand Mounted Police" seems to be the most appropriate in meaning, and it seems to be okay to translate it into Highway Mounted Police/Road Ranger/Ambush on All Sides.

Speaking of rangers, I think of Texas Rangers, and I think of Texas Rangers. . . It was the female governor of Texas, Ma Ferguson, who disbanded herself in the film. M iriam A manda Wallace Ferguson is the first female governor in Texas history. Her husband Pa Ferguson was also the governor of Texas, but was later impeached for using power for personal gain and accepting bribes. Ma Ferguson did nothing practical during the term of the first governor, but he did something to amnesty the world. During his two years in office, he pardoned as many as 100 criminals every month. Rumor has it that she and her husband made a lot of money through these "pardons." It was at this time that Texas Rangers and Ma Ferguson started to not deal with each other. I tried my best to catch the criminals and let them go. How about playing with me?

So when Ma Ferguson was running for the second governor (not re-elected), Texas Rangers publicly expressed support for the current governor Ross Sterling, and Liangzi was formed. After Ma was elected, Frank Hamer and several other old Rangers who had been working to restore the reputation and authority of Texas Rangers immediately resigned and retire. Within a week, Texas Rangers were disbanded. Retaliation is on the one hand, the budget shortage caused by the economic depression and the violence of the Texas Rangers on the US-Mexico border are on the other.

So there was a plot in which Ma was unwilling to find Frank in the film, and Frank was unwilling to pick up the live plot at the beginning. Because the Texas Rangers have been disbanded, Frank actually pursued Bonnie and Clyde as a prison special investigator, which is the prison where 100 amnesty is given every month. For the contributions of Frank and Maney and others, although he was very unhappy, Ma had to recognize and even praise them. Agreeing to send two old Rangers to hunt down was probably the greatest political achievement of Ma Ferguson during his two terms as governor.

As an old and important law enforcement agency in Texas, the dissolution of Texas Rangers led to chaos at all levels of law enforcement in Texas. After Pa Ferguson's second term as governor ended, Texas Rangers resumed and reverted to the Texas Department together with Texas Highway Patrol. of Public Safety (DPS) management until now. As described in the ending black and white film, after Texas Rangers recovered, Maney returned to work in Rangers, while Frank chose to retire completely and return home to share his life with Gladys.

God knows that's what separates us from them, and it turns out to be meaner. Minus two stars.

Another point of view of the Bonnie and Clyde story, "The Male and Female Thief" is already a classic, but it is rare that the film continues to be made from such a point of view, and it can be made so interesting and attractive.

  • Frank Hamer: You ever think maybe there was something in Clyde... that made him steal that chicken in the first place?

Henry Barrow: Maybe he was hungry. Maybe we were all hungry.
