Another movie that I haven't seen for a long time until today.

It's like watching a Hitchcock. For example, before the "FBI friend" was shot and killed in a hotel room, the door of the cabinet slipped quietly, so we knew that there was a killer inside, but we don't know if he could do it, when, or how. Always hung up.

Another example is that when the killer pretended to be a "FBI friend" and walked with Julia hand in hand in the square, we saw him take out his pistol and hide it under his clothes. But I don't know when he will do it. Suspense again. But this time it was not long, and the killer was killed soon.

The most classic is the bomb hidden in the car. Denzel tried to insert the key twice, so we looked at his hands with horror. This is what Hitchcock said. The difference between suspense movies and ordinary movies is the difference between the audience knowing where the bomb is and when they don’t.

Not only these plots pay tribute to Hitchcock, but also look like a master in the overall tone; the restaurant chasing the scene, even Julia's exclamation seems to be copied from an old movie.

Talking about Julia and Denzel, they were really young at the time, their faces full of collagen. Denzel is really the most gentlemanly black actor. I remember a comment saying that he is the most suitable black actor to wear military uniforms. I also think he is very suitable for wearing a suit. Maybe it looks more upright. Not as handsome as Will Smith.

I was also pleasantly surprised to see Miranda in "Sex and the City". It was her mouth shape when she spoke. It was so distinctive and very young. At that time, she was still playing tricks. Cole, the White House chief of staff, was President Fitzgerald in "Scandal," and he was so tender that he walked in the same gait.

This is a 1993 movie. I watched the first "Wall Street" in 1987 two days ago. Michael Douglas's Oscar was older. I like these old tunes recently. Like the Avengers, it is estimated that I will never go to see it, it is not my food.

The last two escaped in a plane. I lost my mind when I saw the plane. Before immigrating, I thought there would be more opportunities to fly in the future, at least I would return to China often. However, I haven't flew it again until now, and it seems that I don't have this idea at all. Suddenly I realized that those who flew around were probably people whose hearts were not settled, and we were living here with all our heart and soul.

The most outstanding thing is actually the heroine's costume... There are many classic styles that are still selling well in it~~~ In fact, the plot is not bad, what I don't like is the actors-except for the hero and heroine, Many of the more important supporting roles look the same (the audience who can't tell the faces of foreigners can't hurt). And everyone wore suits at that time, which directly led to the inability to distinguish between killers, high-level officers, detectives, etc. Looking dizzy.

Among the films of that year, this one should be the weaker one.

The Pelican Brief quotes

  • Edwin Newman: She sounds almost too good to be true

Gray Grantham: [pause] She almost is

  • [first lines]

Justice Rosenberg: Any of those signs got my name on 'em?

    Gray Grantham: Quite a few.

Justice Rosenberg: What do they say?

Gray Grantham: The usual: Death to Rosenberg, Retire Rosenberg, Cut off the oxygen.

Justice Rosenberg: [laughs] That's my favorite. Of course you, Mr Grantham, did pretty good by me your last time out: Rosenberg equals the government over business, the individual over government, the environment over everything. And the Indians? Oh, give 'em whatever they want.

Gray Grantham: Well with all due respects sir, that wasn't my line, that was a quote.

Justice Rosenberg: From one of your unnamed senior White House officials; senior White House son of a bitch I should have said, who got in there by stirring up these people, one against the other. It never fails to amaze me what a man will do to get into the Oval Office.
