I revisited the movie "School Storm" today, and I have some ideas that I have never had before, so I record it here.
I was impressed by three people: Tracy, Teacher McAulet and Paul. These three people have very different personalities and different endings. Their choices determine their respective endings.
Let me talk about Paul first, this role is my favorite. He is a child of a wealthy family, but he is never arrogant, extravagant and prostitious. On the contrary, he is grateful and cares about the feelings of others. His involvement in the election for the president of the student union was completely exploited. He has no ambitions, just wants to enjoy life happily. What I admire the most is that he voted for Tracy and cared about Tracy's feelings after winning the election. He was really a very kind big boy. He finally went to the University of Nebraska as he wished and was always popular, which made me very happy. A good boy of Buddhism!
Tracy is a very competitive girl. She is like the usual class representatives in our school days, always planning her own interests. Such students are very popular with teachers, but they are often isolated by students. In terms of pretending to be high-minded, Tracy and I are a bit like. I always feel that other people's incomprehension is because they are too naive. But I am not as competitive as Tracy. Her behavior has a lot to do with her native family, so this role is worthy of sympathy. A high school student, studying hard, and organizing his campaign work, what's wrong? Although she tore off her opponent's poster, she was a temporary anger under her anger, not to mention her own poster was also torn off. This has limited interference with the fairness of the election. In the end, Tracy became the chairman of the student union as she wished, was admitted to the university of her choice, and got in touch with big shots. This was the reward she deserved. Although I don't like her approach and philosophy very much, I understand what she does.
Teacher Macaulayt is my least favorite character. An adult cheating with a friend's wife is really a mess in his private life, and he has no sense of responsibility at all. What makes me despise even more is that as an excellent teacher, he has no professional ethics at all. He vents his personal emotions on the students (yes, this student is Tracy), and even tampered with the election results. He keeps insisting on democracy, but he blatantly violates public opinion and is a hypocrite. He got the punishment he deserved and was swept out by the school and his wife. Although he continues to engage in education, his influence is limited and he cannot continue to do evil.
From the beginning to the end, the ideas that each of these three roles adhere to have never changed. Paul has always been Buddhist, Tracy has always been competitive, and Macaulay has always been cynical. It was their philosophy that led them to their respective endings. If they change, the outcome may be different. However, as you and I have experienced in reality, change is really too difficult! Regarding the ending of the film, I feel that it is not far from reality. Most people will be led by their own obsessions to meet their destiny.
