I will never understand your pervert

Although praise cannot be used by everyone, criticism always attracts more criticism. Before writing this article, I thought of the little MMs in the office who like Korean movies. They know that I also like watching movies, and sometimes they are very interested in recommending a certain Korean movie to me. However, my reaction always disappointed them, so when discussing, their conclusion always attributed the reason to the fact that I watched too few Korean movies. In movie magazines, sometimes one-third of the pages are used to introduce Korean movies. On TV, you can always see news that Koreans have won awards at the XX Film Festival. The popularity of Korean movies often makes me feel a little puzzled. Could it be that I have a problem? A friend jokingly told me on MSN the other day, "I don't actually like Korean movies, but I dare not say." So I thought, I would like to summarize why I don't like Korean movies. But these thoughts are only about Korean movies themselves, and they are not necessarily related to the small MMs in the office who like Korean movies.

Speaking of the origin of writing this article, it was because I watched the recently well-received "Old Boy" not long ago. Even an MM who doesn't particularly like Korean movies said that Park Chan Wook is really good. Said that I can look for his movies to watch in the future. So I looked for it again with hope. However, the result was still disappointing. Frankly speaking, this movie. In terms of production, it is obviously much better than the Korean movies I have seen before. At least compared to many South Korean directors who have no feeling for movie soundtracks like Xiang Jin Ki-duk, or only use a few popular songs like I belive as movie music, Park Chan-wook has begun to learn to use music to tell stories. At the same time, many places in the movie are well-designed, and the lens is quite innovative, which is indeed impressive.

The problem is perversion, or perversion. When Cui Minzhi finished learning how to bark, and picked up the scissors to cut off his tongue, my first psychological reaction was, it's here again, it's really annoying. This feeling is as if you were sitting there, and a man came up and said that he wanted to show you human nature. After telling a story, he finally took out his intestines. Then the second person ran over and swallowed the hook for you. The woman he was with took the hook and stuffed her into her vagina again, and then the third person came back and cut off her tongue. I know that many spectators will applaud, saying how good, how shocking, look, this is art. It is a manifestation of human nature. It's me. I'm very tired of these cookie-cutter things.

I am not a historian. The history of Koreans is something that is involved in school and peacetime reading, or in the news seen in the media. But in my opinion, the preference for perversions in Korean films cannot be separated from their history. In history, South Korea is a country that has been repeatedly invaded. After being bullied, but unable to resist, that kind of national hatred complex has continued to the present. Therefore, many characters in Korean movies are full of strength. I don't know if it's because of this. The perverted things they like to shoot are always self-abuse. He gritted his teeth again, and tried hard at himself. This is a weak mentality that cannot be lowered. It is an interesting contrast when compared with the perversion that prefers to abuse others in Japanese and European and American movies. The former is a metamorphosis based on extreme inferiority complex, while the latter is a metamorphosis based on extreme self-expansion. I don’t like perverts, but compared to perverts, I don’t like low self-esteem and personality. So my friend said that I don’t like Korean movies because I can’t accept perversions. I said that’s not the case.

It doesn't matter if a person is abnormal, but if a group of directors in a country is abnormal in one way, then the abnormality becomes a normal state. Regardless of the tune of Wen Yizaidao, sometimes I just think, for hatred and hurt, for the expression of the scars of history, is there no better way than self-abuse? When Korean directors are busy showing their scars to the world, why can no one try to forget this self-pity and find a way to get out? Kielowski made a woman in the blue to forgive the lover of his dead husband, not because of moral nobility, but because she needed to find a way out to continue living. However, when a person encounters hatred in Korean movies, he rarely sees tolerance or open-mindedness. They are all gnashing their teeth. If you can't take off the arms and legs of others, you will cut yourself off. This is a kind of personality in many people's eyes, but in my personal opinion, it is a narrow national sentiment. Of course, narrow-mindedness is also a kind of personality, if anyone insists on saying that. I can't object either.

Put aside the narrow mindedness. From the perspective of the movie itself, the perverted works of some Korean movies for perverted reasons are really unacceptable to me. This kind of feeling is like someone pulling a pile of stool in front of you and then eating it in front of you. This is not over yet, this person has to observe your expression while eating. If you feel nauseated, then they think they have succeeded. Take "Old Boy" as an example, a script similar to a third-rate internet novel. When the director couldn't explain the development of the story logically, he came up with a Mongolian plaster like "hypnosis" to save the scene. Bring together people you shouldn't meet. Let people who don’t love each other fall in love. And all this deliberately blunt arrangement. The purpose is to create a kind of incest ending, so that the last perverted scene can achieve a shocking effect. As a result, everyone was really shocked, and they were busy sending out awards. Frankly speaking, I was not scared at all. I guessed that she was her daughter when the girl just started helping Cui Min-sik to find her daughter. It's not hard to guess at all. If you speculate from the director's psychology, you know that he must have shocked you. Then this is the best way. It is often used in third-rate online novels. Here, I also want to criticize my idol by the way. In my opinion, awarding the prize to "Old Boy" Quentin Tarantino is one of the two most unqualified things. And the other is to give the gold award to Fahrenheit 911. Looking at it from another angle, the award-winning movies in China many years ago always show the things that are bound to the feet. Movies like South Korea have won awards. There are also some similarities.

I don't know what happened to our media. It seems that Fever Han syndrome is a chronic disease. It has been a long time and I haven't seen them reduce their fever. I was a little surprised when I saw the praises of Korean films that the domestic media made without exception, and this situation lasted for a long time. Rise does not mean perfection. In contrast, we, as a few professional film magazines, seem to be more objective and skeptical about Hollywood. I don't know why, when I came across Korean movies. China's film media seems to have a fever. Comments are reduced to fan-level. It has completely lost its professionalism. Only talk about the advantages, not the defects. When it comes to the popularity of Korean movies in mainland China, such media magazines have really made a lot of contributions. If this kind of behavior is equally inappropriate for Chinese movies, I can still understand that after all, supporting domestic products and helping each other is emotionally past. However, what are you hype about for Korean movies?

I think I may be a little bit Chinese. In addition, it has always been more influenced by European and American movies, so it is impossible to accept the narrow worldview of the Koreans. I often hear someone say that it takes three generations to cultivate a nobleman. Perhaps this principle is used in movies and other artistic creations. Although South Korea is richer than us, their thinking is still in a state of a weak country and few people. It is estimated that it may take several generations to change this way of thinking. Russia is just the opposite example. Although it is decadent, the things that are photographed are still majestic and solemn. At this point, I think that we Chinese have always had the psychological characteristics of low image and lack of self-confidence. This is also the reason why Stephen Chow's movies are so popular. In fact, it turns the inferiority of a small person into a self-expanding consumer product.

But some people's inferiority complex goes further. It is a mentality similar to the persecution delusion of the Koreans. Thinking about it this way, it is not so difficult to understand that so many Chinese like Korean perverts. In contrast, Korean dramas are warm and natural, full of wit, and full of ordinary people's wisdom. I think this may be closer to the true image of Koreans. And such a Korean, I can accept and love. After all, most people always regard movies as a more artistic carrier than TV dramas. People who want to come to Korea are no exception. So when I was deep, I gritted my teeth and performed desperately. It is inevitable that the drama is overdone. However, Korean films have repeatedly won international awards. It feels similar to the applause that China presented to the world in those years. What's ridiculous is that when the Chinese media saw the South Korean film winning, it seemed like a needle of excitement and praised it endlessly. It's not as good as the controversy of a hundred schools of thought when I treated myself for the award.

Finally, I think that although Korean movies have won many awards, there are no masters in Korean movies. It's just that this issue is more complicated to discuss. It involves a lot of details of the director's technique. I have to open another article to make it clear. It's better to stop here for the time being.

PS: This is an old article. It is limited to discussing the psychology of the so-called human nature, perversion, etc. plots in Korean films. Therefore, romance films such as August Photo Gallery will not be evaluated.

I especially like the passage about ant hallucinations when I am lonely.
