At the beginning of the film, Herzog used a set of bombing shots taken from an airplane. The Vietnamese village below was blown up with sparks and fragments dancing, and beautiful murderous intent burst out of the greenery. These pictures, like the "teaching film" watched by the soldiers in the film, are from the 1997 documentary. In the documentary, the old Dieter appeared to tell the story of the jungle 30 years ago; while the drama "Revisiting the Sky" highlights his indestructible belief in escape. When the protagonist is in the endless rainy jungle, the film reproduces the common themes in Herzog's works: the confrontation between man and the sky, and the indestructibility of the will.
Herzog was so nostalgic for the pilot Dieter’s story that he made the bold move to remake the documentary into a feature film. "Revisited" is a good-looking prisoner of war escape film, plain and shocking, the flaw is that it is too close to the Hollywood style from beginning to end, making Herzog fans a bit at a loss. However, even with Dieter’s autobiography and Herzog’s documentary before it, some people still protested the authenticity of the details in the film. In the movie, there is a character Phisit who stole three pairs of shoes and escaped. The corresponding real character is believed to be another escaped prisoner of war, Pisidhi. This Pusti and other relatives and friends of prisoners of war who failed to escape the jungle established a website called "The Truth Behind the Movie " Rescuedawn " (http://www.rescuedawnthetruth.com/ ), called " Rescuedawnthetruth ." The screenwriter is absurd and ridiculous, saying that those three pairs of shoes cannot be eaten.
In historical facts, Dieter after being rescued weighed less than 80 pounds; so here we need to mention the efficiency of "Batman" Christian Bale (Christian Bale) slimming method-of course, he also dedicated his perfect acting skills. In 2004's "The Machinist" (The Machinist), he was skinny. At that time, this crazy guy who was so dedicated in acting actually asked to be reduced to 90 kilograms. After being rejected, he appeared in the image of less than 110 kilograms, which is surprising. It is also admirable-this weight is 2/3 of his normal weight. After the performance, he returned to his normal weight. As a result, he played the tortured American prisoner of war in "Revisiting the Sky" this time, and he was skinny again-Bell's weight fluctuated up and down, which really made him sweat for him.

Reminder: If you have watched Little Dieter Needs to Fly, I believe you can learn more about why a documentary was expanded into a feature film ten years later.
