The film is adapted from Thai folklore. At first, I watched it with the heart of watching horror movies. I didn't expect to be amused to the point of being slapped with laughter at the end, and I was also moved to a mess. Although it's a horror movie, the protagonist's style is very funny. To be close to the original book, the teeth are blacked out, but the hairstyles of Mai and his comrades-in-arms are more 'fashionable'.
If you have watched Thai horror films like "Ghost 4 Abuse", you should know several of Mai's comrades in arms. They are all funny in several Thai horror films, and the same is true here. Especially when I went home with Mai and got to know Mai's wife Xiaonai, after arguing that Xiaonai was a human or a ghost based on various clues, all kinds of jokes appeared frequently and the reversals continued. Several people were sitting on the boat to see if Xiaonai at the stern was a ghost and sang together. It sounded inexplicable, but it just appeared out of nowhere. There are also a few people in the temple scene that is too funny. It is obvious that the protagonist of the movie is serious about 'escape and save his life', but there are different accidents and jokes.
But there are still elements of terror. Whether it's the villagers' silence on Xiaonai, or the various speculations of Mai's comrades who imagine Xiaonai is a ghost, they all create a terrifying atmosphere. Perhaps this method of breaking the terrifying atmosphere created by rambling jokes is one of the highlights of this movie. If you like it, you will find it very interesting, and if you hate it, you will think it is "selling dog meat."
In the end, when the truth came out, Mai, who was afraid of ghosts, knew that Xiaonai was a ghost, but Mai deeply loved Xiaonai and did not expose the illusion created by Xiaonai, and was willing to be with Xiaonai who had become a ghost. Turn, a teardrop.
In general, I still like this movie, the plot is compact and not procrastinating, and the story has a beginning and an end, which is quite healing.
