Yoon Seok Tae, this is not an evil fatalism

When I watched it for the first time, I thought that the logic of the film was too extreme and narrow, and it was full of fatalistic pessimism. It seems that Yun Shuotai is born evil, because his dirty soul is born, it is inherent, and it cannot be removed by external force, so he admits that he can only do evil, just like a good guardian, he is thorough. He pursues evil behaviors and regards evil as his inherent life attitude, so he hates all good, resolutely draws a line with good, and hurts good people just like people expect evil people. The first person to bear the brunt is Ren Hengze. From the looks of it, this is an out-and-out tale of retribution for resentment. Perhaps, as Shuotai himself said, there is a monster in his heart. He has no choice but to choose evil, and his indomitable hope is to drag everyone else into hell.
But if that's all, then the theme of the film becomes: Evil is fatal and cannot be redeemed. But obviously, what the movie wants to express is definitely not so outrageous. Otherwise, the director would not have used so much space to express the emotional behavior of other characters, especially Hua Yi.
Therefore, if you watch the movie carefully again, you will still find a lot of obscure content.
First of all, what was the monster that Shuotai could see when he was a child? I think what the monster represents is the fear in the human heart, and as the deformity grows, it develops into a kind of evil. In fact, we all want to defeat the wicked by default, the best way is not to try to influence him, but to become more evil, let fear fear you, then you will overcome it!
For Shuotai, the monster is undoubtedly a projection of his psychological portrayal of his life in the nursery. From Shuotai asking Hengze for help, it can be seen that Shuotai was afraid of monsters and resisted at the beginning, but with prayers, he slowly defeated the monsters, that is, he became more fearful than fear. Evil is worse.
There are two reasons for this change: 1. Shuotai tried to wash his dirty soul through prayer, but it was completely unsuccessful. He felt abandoned by the world and goodness. Combined with Shuotai's trust in Hengze at that time Looking at it, it can be said that Hengze is the embodiment of young Shuotai's kindness. Therefore, being abandoned by kindness also develops a feeling of being abandoned by Hengze. 2. The feelings of Hengze and Enzhi undoubtedly catalyzed Shuotai's being abandoned A sense of abandonment, even a sense of betrayal.
However, according to the three-dimensional space we are in, time as a dimension tells us that everything has a causal relationship, then we must trace the initial cause of everything, that is why Shuotai's soul becomes dirty ?
Many people think that it is the loneliness and helplessness of life in the nursery that makes Shuotai's heart dark, but according to our common sense, loneliness and helplessness cannot be regarded as a negative factor in the strict sense. . Therefore, in addition to the objective environment, there must be some events that have caused Shuotai's self-awareness to change.
It may be influenced by movies such as "The Furnace", combined with the dark picture of the film's description of the life of the nursery school, I think that Shuotai is very likely to have been sexually assaulted, and the perpetrator is his most trusted father of Brother Hengze. Because of being violated and isolated and helpless, Shuotai cannot seek help from the outside world, and cannot rely on the outside world to punish the abuser, so he turns to his own heart, condemning himself, punishing himself, and the unintentional help of the pure and kind Hengze, thus forming I felt guilty about myself because of the dirty cognition of my soul. And with the uselessness of prayer and the stimulation of Henze Enzhi's love, Shuotai transformed this guilt into a power that can devour monsters! That is evil! Be a wicked person and destroy all the good, so Shuotai becomes cruel, but under the cruelty and cold-blooded is the self-abandonment of his kindness.
Secondly, it is Shuotai's affection for Huayi. Many people say that this is because Huayi is Shuotai's biological son, so the cold Shuotai will have a fatherly love for Huayi. I don't agree with that. In addition to the time bug and other issues, whether Shuotai's feelings for Huayi are fatherly love is very debatable in itself.
In my opinion, Shuotai's feelings for Hua Yi are not fatherly love, but more like pity for another self. The young and ignorant Hua Yi is a child with fear, forced to learn evil and betray good, overcome fear and devour monsters in a bloody way. Isn't this a copy of Shuotai? Hua Yi has almost no choice in his own life, so he has to embark on this road, just like Shuotai in the nursery school who was unable to resist the tragic fate. Hua Yi was left with a shadow because of the experience of being hidden in a box when he was a child, and he was afraid of the claustrophobic space. This kind of fear caused by weakness made Shuotai see who he was back then. Therefore, Shuotai, for Huayi, is like another self. He cherishes Huayi, but because of his fate in the past, he wants to destroy Huayi, just like destroying the once kind self, and this destruction is Another way he helped Huayi overcome his fears. For Shuotai, he never knew there was any other way to overcome fear, except to become stronger than fear, so facing Huayi who was so similar to himself, he could only teach in this way.
As for why Huayi was chosen, I think there is always a kind of revenge mentality. At that time, Hengze's father committed an unforgivable mistake to Shuotai, which led to Shuotai's tragic fate. What makes Shuotai even more painful is that the enemy's son is so kind and beautiful, like a savior. Shuotai pinned his hopes on Hengze. Although Hengze tried his best to help Shuotai, he didn't know the root cause of his illness, but in the end he failed to redeem Shuotai. Brother Hengze, whom he trusted, also failed to help him, which made Shuotai even more disheartened.
When Shuotai grew up, he became more bloody and cruel. His distorted desire for control made him no longer satisfied with tasting this tragic fate alone. At this time, Huayi's appearance undoubtedly inspired him. He wanted to let Hengze's son Feeling the pain of his own years, but in the process of loving Hua Yi unconsciously, is like compensation for his young self.
The title "Children Who Devour Monsters" should refer not only to Huayi, but also to Shuotai in the past.

Jin Yunxi has long been familiar with this kind of role, and the acting is very exciting. It is really enjoyable to watch, especially when he stares at Hua Yi when he is about to die, he is affectionate, relieved, shocked, satisfied, unwilling, sad, really It is very rich and shocking! He and Choi Min-sik are my favorite Korean actors of Chungmuro.
I'm no stranger to Lu Zhen Goo, but he played Hua Yi really surprised me. The previous roles of Li Xuan and Han Zhengyu had a cynical attitude, but this time, the handsome and ruthless high school student did a good job. The last look is so funny!
Finally, I feel that Nan Zhixian has long hair, and he is really not as aura as in "Today". Is it because he has grown up?

The three views are weird to death. Thought it was the ten wicked men who raised the little fish, but it turned out that the big bad wolf raised the little white-eyed wolf. Why isn't Yeo Jin-gu growing up? He won't be able to call him a child in a few years...
