There are only sunshine, smiling faces, uncle's olive trees, apricots, tomatoes that need to be watered, rock and ballads that sound in the town at night, people dancing to music, ambiguous and affectionate, youth's rebellion and growth, uncle's clumsiness and gentleness. Every frame is happy.
At the beginning of the movie, the children meet their grandfather living in the countryside for the first time, and the collision begins. Food, ideas, new things, they seem to live in two different worlds. The clumsy grandfather is not good at expressing feelings, nor is he good at communicating with children. The youngest and deaf grandson became the uncle's first partner. Because grandpa has the kind of temperament that no child can refuse, clumsy but always wearing sunshine. Just like the water flowing through the fields moistens the fields, one cannot drink water after eating apricots.
The rebellious granddaughter falls in love with a handsome cowboy, but the old routine is naturally incomparable. The cowboys in the story are often not good people at the end, and this movie is not exempt. Although it is a routine that can be seen at first glance, there is no violation of harmony here, and it is logical. In the end, the uncle did not tell his granddaughter the truth, but he won the granddaughter's forgiveness and love. The uncle's clumsiness is obvious in this story, but the uncle's deep and warm feelings are clearly displayed in front of the audience.
The handsome and gentle brother has experienced strawberry-flavored ambiguity and affection this summer. In the near future, the man who must support this family may have learned from his grandfather more than just how to take care of olive trees.
Finally, let's talk about the big-nosed grandpa. When he was young, he was wild and passionate, but when he was old, he was used to a comfortable life, and gradually drifted away from the new things in the outside world. Maybe the image of the uncle is always like this, clumsy and domineering, in order to maintain his majesty, he puts on an indifferent look, but he is so gentle and deep in his bones. He loves his olive tree, his wife, his brother who is far away in heaven, and his grandchildren. But he didn't say it, preferring to cry after hearing his brother's name.
Also, like the old guys at Knockin' On Heaven's Door, I love it.
