The American soldier looking for his long-lost daughter, the flower-picking girl and the disabled old man, the prostitute and the tricycle driver, and the street boy who lost the sales box, all have accidental overlapping points in the multi-line narrative.

The life of the people at the bottom of Vietnam is bitter, but also full of hope.

The prostitute said to the tricycle driver who was waiting for her every day, have you seen the world in those hotels, the sun rises every day for the people there, not for us. I also want to have a good night's sleep in such an air-conditioned room without thinking about anything.

The teenager who lost the sales box was driven out by the old crow, saying that he would not come back until he found the box. However, from the beginning to the end, he was exhausted in a raincoat, and he walked dazedly on the street in the pouring rain without shedding a single tear.

The disabled old man has never dared to go out since he got a tumor on his face when he was young, until he met the innocent flower-picking girl who was willing to transcribe poems for her when she was dying.

The American soldier took a lot of money but couldn't find his daughter, so he could only smoke in a daze in front of the luxury hotel every day.

Summer in Vietnam is scorching hot.

But apart from these desperate moments, under the noisy cicadas, the unprovoked sweat and the scorching sun, in addition to the unbearable life, what can be seen is the unsullied beauty of nature.

Just like the red leaves in the sky that the last tricycle driver took the prostitutes to see, like the little lotus flowers released by the flower pickers on the Mekong River.

The beauty of Vietnam is pure and untouched by money. The girls there don't wear heavy makeup, the drivers drink carbonated drinks for a few cents, and there are slow motorcycles everywhere on the street.

But people are always greedy and always looking upwards. The essence of feeling unhappy is that you are not satisfied. This is a good thing and not a good thing.

The more privileges we are given, the more annoyed and disappointed we are. People who struggle between life and death have no heart to think about romance and so-called dreams. These are the rights of idlers.

But relatively, for the poor, a little sweetness can go a long way.

So the world is still fair. The more you have innately, the more you have to take on, and the harder it is to find true happiness.

Three Seasons quotes

  • James Hager: I made many mistakes in my life. That was a long time ago. Have I met the same man I was then? A lot of times past. When a chance comes around to make a wrong a right it's a special thing. But I hoped to make one thing right.
