We live in a crisis-ridden primary universe. For some unknowable reason, the primary universe occasionally deviates from its normal time orbit, heading toward a doomed stray—the offline universe. The first sign of the emergence of the offline universe is the arrival of the "relict". In order to avoid the destruction of the entire world, a "living recipient" selected by the "hand of God" must return the "sacred object" to the original universe before the time limit of the offline universe arrives. The "accused" around him will do everything in their power to induce him to complete the task of the day - "divine mediation". After this, the offline universe will be closed on time, and the original universe will return to the starting point of the "crossroad" and continue to run in the original direction. And all the "accused", including the "living recipient", will no longer remember. There are only a few fragments left in my heart, as if I had just woken up from a big dream.
The story of this film (except for the last paragraph) takes place in the offline universe, and all events lead to the only ending along the fateful trajectory: Donnie sacrifices himself to save the original universe. The "relic" is a jet engine, the "living recipient" is the protagonist Donnie Darko, and the "accused" is all the rest of the characters. (It is a small town inhabitant of Middlesex, where the space-time vortex is generated. Among them, Frank and the heroine Gretchen are both "dead controllers", but only Frank uses a different-dimensional channel to communicate with Donnie; their only role in the offline world is to set "Guide" Trap", to ensure that Donnie reaches her destiny within acceptable psychological limits)
The limit of the offline universe is: 28 days, 6 hours, 42 minutes and 12 seconds. When that moment comes, it will be the end of the world when the black hole devours everything.
too verbose.
