This is not a reflective film critical of war

Biographical films have never been my interest, so I don't know how to evaluate this one. I don't know anything about the protagonist's experience, but the script's ability to show his complex and great life in such a condensed way is quite amazing. The Oscar for Adapted Screenplay is well deserved. Although most of the plot took place during the smoke-filled World War II, the plot did not seem to make the audience feel too much cruelty of the war, except for the part where a boy in the decoding team learned that his brother was about to be bombarded by the Germans on the warship. After all, this is not a reflective film critical of war. On the whole, the British taste is strong, but there are no big surprises. The character depiction is still suspected of being formulaic, and the dramatic plot is not too exaggerated. The last two scenes moved me a little. The actor's acting skills are also a point of interest, for fans of American and British dramas.

  • Alan Turing: I like solving problems, Commander. And Enigma is the most difficult problem in the world.

Commander Denniston: Enigma isn't difficult, it's impossible. The Americans, the Russians, the French, the Germans, everyone thinks Enigma is unbreakable.

Alan Turing: Good. Let me try and we'll know for sure, won't we?

  • Joan Clarke: I know it's not ordinary. But who ever loved ordinary?
