Nation of Ember

This film review was used to write "City of Ember". There are two translated versions of Sagittarius, one is "Shimmer City" and the other is "Afterglow City", I prefer the latter-"Afterglow City". (There are a large number of spoilers below, be careful.) In

a certain era of uncertainty, human beings finally have to pay the price for their actions and suffered annihilation. The highest group of intelligent leaders of mankind met and built the City of Ember, The city of afterglow has given her a 200-year validity period. The last human beings can survive in the cold underground in this disaster avoidance ark, but at the same time, the sages also gave her the creation ark, 200 years later, humans will come out of this The Ark returns to the ground to rebuild its home. It's a pity that the seventh mayor of Afterglow City died suddenly, so the box that hid the secret of Creation Ark was forgotten in the dusty corner. Everyone in Afterglow City naively thought that the disaster-avoidance ark they were in was a "perpetual motion machine", which would always generate electricity to nurture this underground city. Even after the power outages became more frequent, they still sang the "sacred song". "Praise the sages. The boy and the girl went through hardships and finally followed the guidance of the sage to return to the ground, and finally saw the sun.

To be honest, the film is average, but every minute I watch her, I think of our nation and our country in my mind. I rarely talk about politics in my blog, but this film completely insinuates our country, the Nation of Ember. Look at the corrupt mayor, look at the people who sang "sacred hymns" to the sages, their devotion and intoxication when they sang together, and the bravery who risked their lives to get out of the afterglow city at the price of their lives. People, what do you think of? now?

When the countless light bulbs over the city of Afterglow began to lose power, and when the 200-year lifespan of the big engine had come, those sages who had already died had already set the way back to the Garden of Eden for the last humans on the Ark of the Earth 200 years ago. But look at what the management of Yuhui City has done? He concealed the truth about the collapse of the big transmitter and continued to fool the citizens, but at the same time he was busy building a "Creation Ark" for himself, hoarding a large amount of food and water.

Everyone understands everything, Nation of Ember, Yuhui City has 200 years, but how much time do we have? In other words, how much time is left for us.

The only bright spot is Bill Murray, who is getting more and more into the state, in the end, the old drama bone.

Three and a half. Very good-looking science fiction film, very creative, very fairy tale. The film depicts the appearance of an underground city very well, successfully establishing a unique worldview. However, the latter part of the film is somewhat reduced to a simple treasure hunt, and the plot is not strong. There is also no mention in the movie why humans should hide underground. . Hope to publish the second part. . .

City of Ember quotes

  • Lina Mayfleet: Lizzie! Where'd you get that food?

Lizzie Bisco: All right. I got it from my boyfriend.

Lina Mayfleet: You don't have a boyfriend.

Lizzie Bisco: It's not official, but there's this guy who really likes me. He explores the storerooms, especially the ones on the edges. They're marked empty in the ledger, but they're not all empty. I'll give you a bite if you promise not to tell.

  • [Mayor Cole addresses perhaps a couple of dozen citizens and gives what is meant to be a rousing speech, like a true politician: promising much but with little action to accomplish anything]

Mayor Cole: These are trying and troubled times. Our problems are grave. We need answers, but beyond answers, more important than answers, we need solutions. And in order to find those solutions, I propose we launch a thorough investigation.

[Many members of the small crowd nod and say "Yes."]

Mayor Cole: I hereby declare the creation of a Task Force to Investigate the Blackouts.

[the crowd claps. Lina looks cynical]

Mayor Cole: Do I have volunteers?

[Several hands rise into the air. Cole looks gratified]

Mayor Cole: [grandiosely] Today, we, the people, stand united against the darkness!
