This movie has been known for a long time and is in my collection.

Seeing this movie will remind you of several other movies "Hidden Figures", the style and type are a bit similar, but the era is different. The same plot is that because of their skin color, they cannot share a bathroom with whites. When going to the toilet, they need to go through an entire building to go to the black-only toilet; they need to go to the open-air toilet outside the house on a typhoon day. Because they are afraid of infecting bacteria and viruses. Both films have comedic endings in the traditional sense. Ai Bilin finally resigned bravely, confronted the evil white hostess, and experienced unprecedented freedom. The three female scientists have also made outstanding contributions to the U.S. aerospace industry. I don't know if it's a rule in the orthodox sense. It must have a happy ending, but there should be a lot of discrimination in life, which is unavoidable.

The American sweetheart in the film is really lovable, I think she is a free person in the true sense, but those white wives are not. They have made too many rules for their servants in their lives, and they are always worried that their rules will be broken. Worried, fearful, and overworked, the invisible shackles set themselves and the black maids, indulging in the fruits of their labor, but killing their spirits and enslaving them.

Mini is really cute, brave though a bit reckless, this revenge is a bit heartwarming

The Help quotes

  • Charlotte Phelan: You know Hilly, if I didn't know any better, I'd say you've been eating too much *pie*.

  • Johnny Foote: Listen, Celia finally told me about the babies. All of them. But I also know that the minute you started working here, she started getting better. You saved her life.

Minny Jackson: You mean, you knew I'd been working here this whole time?

Johnny Foote: Fried chicken and okra the first night? I mean, you all could have at least put some cornpone on the table.

Minny Jackson: No, I can't let you eat no more cornpone, Mr. Johnny.

Johnny Foote: Well, thanks to you, now I've have to let out every pair of pants I own.
