We and Austen both love happy ending

When I really wanted to watch this movie or an introduction to Western literature, a very intellectual teacher talked about Austen, saying that most of her works ended in a happy ending. It reminds me of this movie, even though it seems that I bought a DVD a long time ago, it just keeps pressing the bottom of the box.

I have watched the 05 version of pride and prejudice at least 5 times. . . It's not paranoid, or simply likes the quiet British atmosphere inside. But sense and sensibility has never been seen, even though it is directed by Ang Lee. Although I won a lot of awards, even though there are stars I like, even though people often compare it with pride and prejudice. Don't look at it, just because it is really realistic.

The fairy tales in our real world never "once upon a time", and even the most beautiful fairy tales cannot guarantee "happily ever after", they just give us a happy ending. So many times I feel that pride and prejudice have a fairy tale flavor, while sense and sensibility have a lot more realistic flavor.

The story is nothing more than reason and emotion. Regarding our emotional life, it is better to choose rationality or emotion. In my eyes, the two sisters are too absolute. But that is our conclusion after watching a lot of emotional movies. For people of that era, they are still very representative. But anyway, just like the balance the Chinese have always pursued, when we have both, we can reap our own happiness.

In this way, Austen is really amazing. The emotional stories she wrote are not unique to us who have experienced countless soap operas today. But the inspiration for the soap operas we watched may have a lot to do with her, so BJ Diary draws on pride and prejudice. I think there are countless works that draw on reason and emotion.

In fact, it's very difficult to read. After seeing the emotional and money issues that my sister said later, it reminded me of the classic "economic foundation determines the superstructure". My sister's innocence will eventually be overshadowed by reality. It is the emotion that people are always pursuing their ideals. But psychologists say that the ideal partner never exists, it's just a guess in our hearts, to make up for our own imperfections.

So, maybe you never need that excessive reason for feelings. When we hesitate whether we should pay and whether such efforts will be rewarded, perhaps we have already missed it. There are too many imperfections in movies and life, and people miss them all the time. Don't worry too much. Since we pursue emotions, it is better to be emotional. To a large extent, those misses may be caused by our intellect. Of course, this is just a family statement that I suddenly imagined. However, our happiness must be pursued by ourselves after all.

Finally, I still have to sigh that Ang Lee is really good at handling this kind of introverted emotion~

[Exhibition at the China Film Archive] Film version. The plot is full of the ingenuity of the novel, and perhaps the audience's exaggerated laughter in some plots adds to this feeling. The ending is forced to be beautiful and also drunk. The acting skills of the supporting roles are exaggerated as a whole, and Hugh Grant can't bear the dull performance of the whole process. And fat Wen and professor don't deserve it no matter how you look at it, it's obvious that Emma Thompson and the professor are more compatible ("Love Actually")! Their acting is also the best. Sense and Sensibility quotes

  • Marianne: And as for you, you have no right, no right at all, to parade your ignorant assumptions...

Margaret: They're not assumptions, you told me.

    Marianne: I told you nothing.

Margaret: They'll meet him when he comes, anyway.

Marianne: Margaret, that is not the point. You do not speak of such things before strangers.

    Margaret: But everyone else was.

Marianne: Mrs Jennings is not everyone.

Margaret: I like her. She talks about things. We never talk about things.

Mrs. Dashwood: Hush, please. That is enough, Margaret. If you cannot think of anything appropriate to say, you will please restrict your remarks to the weather.

  • Mrs. Dashwood: You must miss him, Elinor.

Elinor Dashwood: We are not engaged, Mamma.

Mrs. Dashwood: But he loves you, dearest, of that I am certain.

Elinor Dashwood: I am by no means assured of his regard, and even were he to feel such a preference, I think we should be foolish to assume that there would not be many obstacles to his marrying a... a woman of no rank who cannot afford to buy sugar.

Mrs. Dashwood: But Elinor, your heart must tell you...

Elinor Dashwood: In such a situation, Mamma, it is perhaps better to use one's head.
