He is a boy, not a killer.

Karl, all the memories of your childhood are in the small wooden house your father built for you, watching the surroundings quietly, sleeping on a small pit, no bed, no toys ,no friend. Your mother will make biscuits and mustard for you three or four times a week. You are very satisfied. Until you were twelve years old, you waited for your mother to make biscuits for you, only to find that the person who always bullied you was pressing on your mother’s naked body. You were angry. With a switchblade, you like to call it Caesar. The knife chopped the man to pieces, but your mother's reaction made you more angry, so you also chopped down your mother. You have no regrets, just sadness. As a result, they did not send you to prison but a mental hospital. Where you spent all your youth and then entered middle age, they all think that you have recovered and are no longer dangerous, so they want to give you freedom, you accept the interview again before you leave, use your unique Some ways of speaking recount the past. You leave the place you are familiar with and depend on. All the salutes are a bundle of books. You tie them with a belt and start a new journey with them. But that didn't go well. You went back to your hometown, which was totally different. Fortunately, you met Frank, and the twelve-year-old boy met you at first sight. Later, you became friends, you moved into his garage, and he took you to his secret base. You shared your thoughts with each other. You told him the greatest secret in your heart, and you became family members.

Frank, your father’s suicide made you grow up quickly. You hate your own weakness, because you want to protect your mother from the alcoholic bad guy. You will never admit that that person can replace your father. You find yourself beside you. There are no real friends until you meet Karl. He told you his past, you are not panicked or afraid, you like the way he speaks, you take him home, you have fun and talk to each other, your friendship has crossed all obstacles, you told him your fear and Helpless, you have become family members.

For Karl, giving Frank a happy future forever is the most important thing, so he sharpened the rusty lawnmower to wipe out the root of unhappiness. Finally, Karl returned to the old place, looking out the window, as quiet as ever.

The works written, directed and acted by Thornton are still quite mature, but the plot is too stylized. Basically, the second half is waiting for the moment when the male protagonist saves the mother and son from water and fire. The role of "father" is a symbol of redemption and redemption, and its rivalry with the little boy is also natural.

There is no suspense, the characters are well created, and there is actually a cameo of Jiamusu, which reminds me that there is still a full set of his DVDs that I haven't watched much...

Sling Blade quotes

  • Doyle: Linda, go get my guitar. It's out there with that looney toon.

  • Karl: I don't reckon you have to go with women to be a good daddy to a boy. You been real square-dealin' with me. The Bible says two men ought not lay together. But I don't reckon the Good Lord would send anybody like you to Hades. That Frank, he lives inside of his own heart. That's an awful big place to live in. You take good care of that boy.

    Vaughan Cunningham: I will. Karl?
