At the end of the Great Depression in the 1930s in the United States, people who were living in embarrassment did not know where to go. At this time, a group of daring people used their own methods to make a living. John Dillinger (Johnny Depp) and his gang rob a bank in broad daylight. Detective Melvin Purvis (Christian Bale) accepts the task when Hoover, then the director of the FBI, orders him to be brought to justice. A mortal battle unfolds between the two and their group. John Dillinger can be said to be lawless, and when the situation is the most serious, he still does not mean to stop, but continues to carry out robbery. Such actions are seen as a blatant challenge to the entire nation of the United States. The FBI naturally stepped up its investigation. In fact, John Dillinger is not without the opportunity to change careers. He can make as much money as his men and horses guard the door of the money laundering company, and at the same time, it is safer. But with his rebellious nature, he didn't want to consider this suggestion at all. Just after they carried out the robbery again, their whereabouts were detected, and faced with the siege of the agents, after a desperate fight, John Dillinger's friends were killed and injured, leaving him alone. At this moment, he had to plan for his future. Just when he was about to carry out the last robbery and then take his girlfriend away, he was betrayed by the people around him and his girlfriend was arrested. Soon after, he was betrayed again by those around him and was shot dead in the street.

The film tells an epic gangster saga that focuses on the short and perilous life of famed bank robber John Dillinger (Johnny Depp). The John Dillinger described in the film is not a thug, on the contrary he is a gentleman. From the beginning, John didn't kill anyone in the film. During the first bank robbery, he even shivered because of the woman who was taken hostage and took off his coat for her. In the process of robbing banks every time, he did not want to kill anyone, and he treated his friends with affection and justice. It is a pity that he did not escape the arrest of the entire state apparatus after all. In fact, the film does not care whether justice has been served, but whether John can live the life he wants and whether he can fulfill his promise to others. The plot is not complicated, but if you can really understand it, it is not that easy.
