According to the definition of Wiki, Metropolitan Legends (also often referred to as urban legends) are a kind of folk tales composed of stories that are believed to be true by the disseminator. This term is often used to describe a story that is "not credible". Like all folk tales, the content of Metropolitan Legends is not necessarily untrue, but they are often misinterpreted, exaggerated or treated in sensational ways over time. According to Wiki, there are two more famous urban legends in Shanghai-the "Dragon Pillar" on Chengdu Road Elevated and the Vampire Old Lady incident.
The elevated dragon column on Chengdu Road is nothing more than a column at the intersection of the north-south elevated overpass in downtown Shanghai, decorated with nine bronze-style dragon patterns. It is said that when the piling was constructed, the foundation could not be driven down. Later, a mysterious monk pointed out that this place is where the dragon veins are (there is also the saying that evil ghosts and resentments are entrenched), and it must be located in the town of Jiulongzhu. Relevant parties got this "chance", naturally they did not dare to neglect, and acted according to the plan, and it really succeeded; but the eminent monk passed away mysteriously on the day of completion... And according to the designer of Longzhu, there was indeed a foundation that could not be beaten. However, this was only due to geological reasons plus the limitations of the equipment at that time. Because on a relatively shallow foundation, if the same load is still to be carried, the entire column must be thickened, and this excessively thick column will inevitably lead to the problem of how beautiful it is, so it was deliberately designed as "Nine Dragons" style. However, with the taste of the citizens, I am afraid I would rather believe it.
It is said that on the military roads in Yangpu District, Shanghai, young fashionable women are often killed. The wounds are all on the neck, as if they were bitten by a vampire. At that time, there were very few such things in China, so it became more and more evil and gradually evolved into the legend of the vampire old woman. Compared with the "Dragon Pillar", the legend of the blood-sucking old woman is more weird and terrifying, and many different versions have been derived during the spread (I was also one of the processors and spreaders of a certain version of this legend, hehehe).
This legend gradually derives the "Dr. Incarnation" version-a scientist turns into a vampire because of drinking chemicals; the "Vampire Family" version-there are nine old women (I rely on, there are only eight sea fighters and sea kings). Ugly-looking, he specializes in activities after dark. The hunting targets are thirteen or fourteen-year-old boys wearing green clothes (very ruthless, the school uniforms of Shanghai elementary school students were green at the time, and I also wore them for three or four years) and red The long-haired girl in clothes (the one with type O blood is my favorite). At that time, many schools in Shanghai were dead. For this reason, most schools had been closed for a period of time, causing panic. In the end, the police mobilized a lot of police force and even armored vehicles to encircle them in Pudong. The police suffered heavy casualties, but one of them ran away (keep it for the sequel?).
In fact, these urban legends, whether true or not, are excellent entertainment themes. It's a pity that the police in the movies of this dynasty can only patrol the streets to catch thieves, and can't there be a special department in charge of "special cases" like "Men in Black"? To give away tickets to the U.S. Emperor's "Blade Warrior" and "Van Helsing" for nothing, this can be regarded as another "legend".
