Politics of any means for justice

I only talked about Lincoln's last year, focusing on the passage of the Thirteenth Amendment to the Constitution to abolish slavery. For this just goal, Lincoln and his cabinet took bribes. Although disgraceful, the result was good. It shows the human side of Lincoln, who does not want his second son to join the army, is afraid of his wife, loves to tell jokes, humorous, and sophistication, but he has great kindness and love in his heart, and he will never give up what he should insist on, not for ideals, but for everyone in front of the law. Equality is finally done. The film is very beautiful and heavy, and Lewis has portrayed a very real Lincoln. Tommy Lee Jones is brilliant, and Mrs Lincoln's love for her son is impressive.

For me, an American historical blind, this history is completely unfamiliar, but Daniel Day-Lewis’s godlike performance has completely subverted the image of Lincoln High in my mind, and has become a story-telling elder. A cunning lawyer who took advantage of legal loopholes, a president who did nothing to achieve his goals, and even more flesh and blood, this little golden man really deserves his name, and he deserves to be the NO1 of the ever-changing movie emperor in my mind.

Although a little knowledge of the background history does not prevent you from being moved by the idealism in it, even knowing the results of the final voting climax is still exciting. There are many characters, many lines and difficult to understand, so tired to read, all rely on "the president tells you a story" and James Spader's surprise cameo adjustment. The two male protagonists are indeed godly acting.

Lincoln quotes

  • Abraham Lincoln: But there is one Ethan Allen story that I'm very partial to...

Edwin Stanton: No! No, you're, you're going to tell a story! I don't believe that I can bear to listen to another one of your stories right now!

[storms out, shouting down the corridor as he goes, voice trailing off]

Edwin Stanton: I need the B&O sideyard schedules for Alexandria! I asked for them this morning!

  • George Pendleton: Are you despairing, or merely lazy? This fight is for The United States of America! Nothing suffices. A rumor? Nothing! They're not lazy! They're busily buying votes! While we hope to be saved by the national mood?

[looks over at Stevens, at his desk consulting with Ashley and Julian]

George Pendleton: Before this blood is dry, when Stevens next takes the floor, taunt him. You excel at that. Get him to proclaim what we all know he believes in his coal-colored heart. That this vote is meant to set the black race on high, to niggerate

    [sic]

    George Pendleton: America...

Fernando Wood: George, please. Stay on course.

George Pendleton: Bring Stevens to full froth. I can ensure that every newspaperman from Louisville to San Francisco will be here to witness it and print it.

[Colfax gavels the chamber to order]
