Civilization and War

When I was a kid watching TV, I didn't understand why the bad guys always win in the beginning and the good guys always win in the end.
Later, I learned that because the gentleman did something and the villain did everything, the gentleman was inferior in the method, and it was inevitable that he would be caught off guard at first. In the end, why do good people always win? Because this is a wish.
This is my thoughts just after watching the movie.
After thinking about it carefully, I found that the female detective's tolerance for torture was not her transition from a "good guy" to a "bad guy", but a gradual change from a "civilized" state to a "war" state.
There is no good or bad in the film, only the difference in position. According to the terrorists, he was forced. He couldn't stand it and couldn't bear it. He couldn't see any hope, so he could only count on the reshuffle, and he could only lift the table and kick the stool.
For the same reason, the torturer also had to do the same. He had spent half his life in the army, and had long been involved in the war physically and mentally, so he would not have any illusions.
The purpose becomes the only one, there are no taboos in the methods, and cruelty is inevitable.
The so-called Unthinkable is to get rid of the appearance of civilization and use a cruel way to convince the other party that I can be more cruel to achieve a modest effect. I just didn't expect some people to be tougher.

There is also why some people can bear the retaliatory circling of the bomber over the opponent’s city but cannot bear the physical damage done to the individual in order to save it? The former is a product of industrialization and the latter is a remnant of barbarians. The former is a response to crime and the latter is a gamble on conscience. The former is justice in war and the latter is evil in peace. The latter can avoid the former, but no one knows and cannot be sure. The former will lead to countless latter, righteous words, retribution.
Right and wrong? Nothing is wrong, at least it is not comfortable, we can judge lightly.

The only flaw in the film is that the terrorist's reaction to their abuse is very literal, and it feels like watching a print. I don’t expect the movie’s meticulous depiction of cruelty, but since you’ve got it, you should perform that kind of pain, otherwise the violent display will be meaningless.

The movie also reminds me of a lot of swearing. Both the pros and the cons only talk about positions, whether right or wrong. The reason is probably that we have received the kind of education that is divided between ourselves and the enemy since we were young.

How to choose, no solution, so sleepy... It's better to read the plot introduction directly

It can be seen as an American drama, and the writers and directors have experience in American dramas with different backgrounds. Samuel L. Jackson's refusal to apply for the police is a waste of talent!

Unthinkable quotes

  • H: Ahh... military intelligence. The great oxymoron.

  • Agent Helen Brody: Jack, the suspect is being tortured. This is unconstitutional.

Assistant Director Jack Saunders: Helen, if those bombs go off there will be no fucking Constitution!
