I remember watching a documentary by DISCOVERY called Ultimate Athlete a long time ago. The film tells the life of the top players in competitive sports and those who are not yet top players. However, after watching ANY GIVEN SUNDAY, the screenwriter did not want this film to be inspirational....

The camera cuts are dazzling... There is a coach like Lao Pa in the locker room that works better than any chicken blood... Very cool ending...

Probably only Pacino can make this kind of American speech look inspirational and not vulgar. Stone's adrenaline editing was a novelty when I first encountered it (I didn't see Natural Born Killers until after watching this one). As for the relationship between Pacino and Fox, it's quite like a Larry Brown and Iverson soap opera. Of course, there may be more similar stories in the NFL.
