In the context of religion, it has the immediate visual sense of "Sodom". The close-ups of the goddaughters are effective at stirring up hatred in the audience, but they don't end as well as "If". Insufficient explanation of the circumstances surrounding such behavior in the church will make people puzzled about the motives of the three girls' families to send them in.
