      Psychoanalysis of The Shining

First of all, I have to explain that I have not read the original novel, and the analysis I have made is only based on the film itself, so there may be differences with the original. However, the original author is also the screenwriter of the movie, so I don't think there will be too much...

Kubrick on "The Shining" [Response from film review by Douyou Sevenyears]

I saw a lot of film reviews, and I saw a great bean friend in the most popular film review reply, but due to too many replies, I think it’s hard for everyone to find this reply patiently, so I turned it over to do it. Into a movie review.

It doesn't mean anything, and it's not a bogey...

Replay @新衡山, four and a half stars; by today’s standards, it was at best a horror. The sharp editing made me horrified again, especially when the murder appeared; the parallel time and space that passed in the old hotel, in Murakami’s "Lexington’s "Phantom" and the dolphin hotel smell familiar; some of the heroines in the climax occasionally caught a glimpse of KJ, which is exactly like the later "eye-opening ring", a superb moment! Don't worry about logic, mystery is beautiful.

    The Shining quotes

    • Jack Torrance: [disappointed at finding the bar empty] God, I'd give anything for a drink. I'd give my goddamned soul for just a glass of beer.

    • Delbert Grady: Did you know, Mr. Torrance, that your son is attempting to bring an outside party into this situation? Did you know that?

      Jack Torrance: No.

Delbert Grady: He is, Mr. Torrance.

      Jack Torrance: Who?

      Delbert Grady: A nigger.

      Jack Torrance: A nigger?

      Delbert Grady: A nigger cook.

      Jack Torrance: How?

Delbert Grady: Your son has a very great talent. I don't think you are aware how great it is. That he is attempting to use that very talent against your will.

Jack Torrance: He is a very willful boy.

Delbert Grady: Indeed he is, Mr. Torrance. A very willful boy. A rather naughty boy, if I may be so bold, sir.

Jack Torrance: It's his mother. She, uh, interferes.

Delbert Grady: Perhaps they need a good talking to, if you don't mind my saying so. Perhaps a bit more. My girls, sir, they didn't care for the Overlook at first. One of them actually stole a pack of matches, and tried to burn it down. But I "corrected" them sir. And when my wife tried to prevent me from doing my duty, I "corrected" her.
