There are many aspects of TNG's setting that are too "romantic"; the plot often feels slow and tedious, not as attractive as TOS 20 years ago; the character construction is not full and there is no spark between each other; the acting skills and charm of the actors are not as good as they are. On TOS, some are even slightly annoying, like I especially don't like consultants and Crushers big and small. After watching the first season, I still have this opinion, I can't help but feel that TNG is overrated, but I heard that the third season is starting to be exciting?
