Thanks to Roger Ebert's persistence, this documentary has been promoted. It is indeed an unprecedented viewing experience. I thought it was just an inspirational American dream, but I didn’t expect it to be so profound. It showed the persistence, competition and belief in society, and also gave me a new perspective on the world around me.

Good film. Without the dream of basketball, the chances of the two children not getting into trouble in the film and even the life expectancy are estimated to be even smaller. Basketball is linked to high school and college admissions. Whether or not to go to college is linked to whether you can get out of poverty and improve the living conditions of yourself and your family. Dreams have become particularly heavy. William was the one whose future seemed brighter at first, but by the time he graduated from high school, his dream seemed to be extinguished. Every step is very difficult. They are still children, but each of their choices determines the fate of the rest of their lives.

    Hoop Dreams quotes

    • Self - William's Brother: All these basketball dreams I had have gone. All I see, all my dreams is in him now. I want him to make it so bad, I don't know what to do.

    • Self - William's Mother: If he wants to play basketball and stuff, that was always okay. But, I was gonna make *sure* that all of 'em got through High School. A High School diploma was *very* important to me.
