Movies from an ecological perspective are not enough to constitute a metaphor for society as a whole—the setting of the movie itself limits the generalizability of this ecology. On the contrary, it shows a way of getting along with family members, but the correspondence between father and patriarchy is too deeply rooted in people's hearts, and it is impossible not to think of it. In terms of perception, "castration" (showing part of the body) and "suppression" (wide-angle seems to be used a lot) are always indicated, which I don't like very much.

Lanthimos constructs a field that is far from reality and self-justifying, like the film's opening: it has its own grammar, and it is horribly clean and white. From a psychological or sociological point of view, it shows the 'control' demands of the middle class (and by extension everyone) and the politics of the family as a 'desire machine'.
