The Physician
The film is set in Persia in the 11th century. In order to learn medicine to cover up his Catholic body, an Englishman joined a medical school in Isbahan that only admits Muslims and Jews. The teacher he followed was named Avicenna, a famous Islamic scientist, thinker and doctor in history. There are more than 200 books by Avicenna, the most famous of which is "The Encyclopedia of Philosophy and Science", which was a high-level encyclopedia at the time; the other great book is "The Classic of Medicine", which was regarded as medicine in Western countries until the 17th century. The classics still have reference value. "The Physician" combines epic and fiction to show the fearless spirit of a group of people to explore true knowledge in that century ruled by ignorance and superstition.
