Just finished watching "The Great Artist", which was also nominated for an Oscar. However, this type of film is really not my thing. The only time when his throat was hoisted was when George wanted to commit suicide, which is really true to the old Chinese saying - grief is unfortunate, anger is not good. In fact, the screenwriter really took great pains to manage this film, especially when the background was alternated between old and new films (audio films replaced silent films such as Chaplin), and the hot star of silent films was reduced to a downfall that was about to commit suicide. Characters, the conflict of the plot makes us concentrate on watching. And it is also subtly inserted into the background of the Great Depression in the United States, accelerating the fall of the big stars.
But such a topic is still a bit cliché, or the same plot, I am more supportive of Yang Dechang's "Terrorist", which is also about men's mid-life crisis. It's just a movie about a small person. It's also middle-aged, and his work is weak. His wife also ran away with others. The 40-year-old man had to end his life with one shot. So in terms of the ending, "The Great Artist" is not bad, at least there is a woman who is so infatuated with him (just because George cultivated her back then), and even helped George turn the tide in the end. In real life, such lucky stars do not often exist, or, even if someone will help you, I am afraid they may not have so much energy. So Terrorist is more real.
