First of all, the movie is not a science fiction movie. The movie has three time and space, past, present, and future. "Past" (500 years ago in the movie) is the content of the novel written by the heroine. The hero goes deep into the story and appreciates the inner world of his lover. "Now" the male protagonist gave up the last tenderness with his lover, blindly trying to save his lover's life, but eventually lost his lover. "Future" (500 years later in the movie) is the time and space of the hero's fantasy, fantasy of the past, and fantasy to have another chance to travel with his lover. At the end, the male protagonist gave up longevity and went to another world with his lover, expressing the director's thoughts on life and love (love is more important than life, life without love is blank and confused)
