a movie that shouldn't be seen

Elephant Man's ugly appearance, tragic life experience, kind heart... I must have seen similar movies, similar plots, so it doesn't quite appeal to me. But why doesn't it appeal to me? Because the Elephant Man is so ugly? Or is it because I know I'm just watching a movie, a fictional movie?
If this is a documentary, and this elephant man is real, I am afraid that no one can not bear it! Especially a deformed person's inner desire to be an ordinary person, the only desire he said in the movie: to sleep like an ordinary person.
In the end, he completed his own church model. For the first time in his life, he fell asleep in the sleeping position of an ordinary person, but never got up again...
We ordinary people should cherish our ordinaryness!

I said that I shouldn't watch this movie because I was afraid that the image of the elephant man would affect the baby in my belly, because he was really ugly, and I almost watched it with my hands covering his protruding forehead.

Notice the numerous depictions of steam engines (industrial) in the film: the rumble of mechanical gears under the great clock; black smoke billowing from the chimney; shirtless workers pushing machines; Dr. Trevis on the operating table To a patient suffering from a work-related injury, saying, "These odious machines, you can't reason with them"... This is obviously the subject of alienation of people, in contrast to the superficial alienation of elephants. Alienation is also a consistent theme of David Lynch. However, the film's correspondence between the civilization and humanity (albeit hypocritical) at the top and the vulgarity and lack of sympathy at the bottom, especially the emphasis on "Christian conscience", makes the film seem weak and powerless. Despite the use of a lot of British actors, the film is still very American, which is a pity.

Classes are divided by language. We also rely on language to understand people. To be accepted by a group, we must first learn how the group behaves.

Dr. Frederick Treves: Oh, he's an imbecile, probably from birth. Man's a complete idiot... Pray to God he's an idiot.

  • Plumed Dwarf: Luck, my friend, luck. Who needs it more than we?
