no one can change you

The first impression of the film is that the plot is a bit Mary Sue? Later, after thinking about it carefully, I found that this movie can still teach us a lot of truth.

What impressed me the most is that no one can change you except yourself. The film's hero Will waits for death before meeting the heroine, and gradually decides to spend the rest of his life well after meeting the heroine. But whether before or after meeting him, the hero's decision to euthanize has not changed. As the male nurse in the film said, I don't understand his decision, but all I can do is respect his decision.

Once you make up your mind, no one can change your mind. The decisive factor is still you.

After he understands this truth, in the face of this changing era, what we need to do is not to be stubborn, but to learn to be firm. I can't judge Will doing this right or not, but I know there are times in our lives when we choose to stand our ground, even in the face of the most beautiful thing in the world, love.

Me Before You quotes

  • Mary Rawlinson: [At the wedding reception, eyeing her drink] This is a bit depressing. Still, one can't do these things sober.

Lou Clark: Oh, no, wait, there's alcohol in this stuff?

Mary Rawlinson: Absolutely, darling. And I firmly encourage you to get as drunk as possible.

  • Mary Rawlinson: Ah, yes. Young Will. He was her chance, you know. The only one of that lot that was worth a damn. Terrible shame.

Lou Clark: Well, he's not dead.

Mary Rawlinson: No. I meant for *her*, not him.
